The best option for you to provide a maintenance charge on your trailer battery would be to upgrade to a 7-way trailer connector on both the vehicle/trailer and then run a wire from the connector to the battery on both the vehicle/trailer. In order to do this you will need a 7-way trailer connector for the trailer part # PK12706, a 7-way trailer connector for the vehicle part # PK12-707E, and wire to run to each battery part # 10-1-1 (per foot).
Unfortunately, you cannot use the trailer connector you have now as you will need all functions in order to abide by local and state lighting regulations. Please also keep in mind that the charge line you will be installing is sufficient for a maintenance charge only. If you need to provide an actual charge you will need a battery charger like part # 331-BCDC1240D.
