I damaged the rack that is closest to the car would that be considered the back? Is this the correct one?

The part closest to the car is actually the front wheel assembly.
If you have the older style gray Yakima HoldUp you need Replacement Front Wheel Holder Assembly # Y90197.
For the newer style black Yakima HoldUp you need the Replacement Front Wheel Assembly # 8890280.
