For your Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13172 on a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, you will have a height from the ground to the inside top of the receiver is 16 inches. I've attached a video that shows this. Then you will simply need to measure from the ground to the underside of your trailer coupler on level ground. Then you will do some simple math. If your hitch height is greater, use a ball mount with a drop--Hitch Height (A) - Coupler Height (B) = Drop (C). However, if your coupler height is greater, use a ball mount with a rise--Coupler Height (B) - Hitch Height (A) = Rise (D).
I've attached an article to assist with determining your ball mount. You may want to consider a ball mount like the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount # C45900 which will give you the ability to tow many different trailers level with simple adjustments. I recommend # e98882 to secure your ball mount to your bumper.
