Question:
how do i determine ball mount rise
asked by: Jim L
Expert Reply:
Ball mount rise, or drop, is determined by inserting the ball mount into the hitch on your vehicle and measuring from the top of the hitch opening to the top of the ball mount platform. I added a photo showing how the rise and length would be measured on the Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 3594.
We also have an informational article that explains how to choose the correct ball mount for your application. All Class I and Class II trailer hitches are tested and rated with the specific ball mount for that hitch. Using a ball mount that is not recommended by the manufacturer will void the warranty. In this case if the trailer you are towing requires a different rise or drop, you should not tow that trailer with that vehicle.
You will also need to select the correct ball for your ball mount and trailer coupler. The # 3594 ball mount uses a ball with 3/4 inch shank diameter, so the 1-7/8 inch hitch ball , # 19256, or the 2 inch hitch ball # 19258, should be correct for your trailer coupler.
