Question:
Just read about the possible problem that installation may have with the hitch.Hitch may interfere with the Hands-free Liftgate sensors and functionality may be very limited or possibly lost. So what do I do? Take a chance on this product or what?

Vehicles with rear lift gate sensors use several of these across the rear bumper area. Hitch installation on such vehicles usually means that only the centrally-positioned sensor will be affected. Those to the sides of the hitch tube usually function without issue. So, in practical terms, if you were approaching the rear of the RAV4 with arms full of grocery bags you'd just want to swing your foot by one of the side-positioned sensors.
There are both smaller 1-1/4-inch Class II hitches like # C12108 and also 2-inch Class III types like # e98864 made for your RAV4. We always suggest the 2-inch size since the incremental cost is usually nominal but the weight capacity is often substantially greater. Both types install identically so it is no tougher to bolt on a 2-inch Class III hitch. Please have a look at the linked install video for the 2-inch etrailer hitch # e98864. Your vehicle towing weight ratings could differ so always check your manual.
If you also need a 4-pole wiring harness for trailer lights you can use kit # 118578; installation of this item is shown in the second linked video.
