With a 3,500-lb maximum gross trailer weight and 525-lb tongue weight rating, this hitch is built for everyday towing and gear hauling. It’s a solid Class III design with a standard 2" x 2" receiver that works for bike racks, cargo carriers, or light trailers. Whether you’re moving a small boat or loading up for a trip, it gives your vehicle the versatility to handle it safely and confidently.
This hitch is fully welded for strength and precision fit, so it bolts directly to the frame without any welding or cutting. The matte black powder coat finish over a protective base layer resists rust and corrosion while hiding dirt and scuffs better than glossy coatings. The finish gives the round-tube design a rugged look that blends in cleanly under the bumper and stands up to years of road grime and weather.

Installing this hitch doesn’t require special tools or a lift—just basic sockets, a torque wrench, and patience. The bolt-on setup lines up with factory mounting points, so there’s no drilling or welding involved. A complete hardware kit and instructions come in the box, making it a straightforward project for anyone who prefers to tackle upgrades in the garage or driveway.

Fit like a charm! And easy to follow in structions!
Etrailer has great service and great products. I have bought several receivers from them. This one had some reviews saying it could come bent and the mounting holes would not line up until you bent it back to widen the spread.
I thought “no way” that thing is too beefy to show up bent. I was wrong. It showed up bent. I decided that since I will have only about 200 pound max of bikes on there, I slotted the holes on the drivers side and it easily mounted right up. It’s 1/4” plate, so I’m sure there is no structural loss for the load I plan to carry.
For the price, it’s a great product.
Easy installation. Did not have to cut or remove any trim pieces on the bumper. Fit perfectly. Instructions were helpful. I bought the hitch to haul a bike rack. It should be great.
Timely delivery. Almost lined up perfectly with the factory mounting holes. However, I had to remove about 1/16 in of metal with a power reamer from the right rear bolt hole to allow the bolt to engage the threads properly. The hitch is very robust and it's capacity exceeds the weight and towing limits of my vehicle (2012 Rav 4). Overall I am pleased with the unit and will continue purchasing products from this company

Thank you for your review. It sounds like your hitch was a little flexed. I am glad it worked out but here is more info about flex:

The only thing Ive done with the hitch so for is to mount my bicycle rack. I did wire up the harness for the lights found that it took longer than installing the hitch.
I'm 5'1" and semi-strong but I was worried about lifting my 60 lb. e-bike onto the rack. Now I have it down pat, 1) tilt the platform, 2) put the front tire in the holder, 3) clamp it snug but not too tight, 4) lift the rear tire into the channel, 5) ratchet the tire tight making sure it doesn't touch the spokes, 5) check the front tire clamp and retighten on the tire if needed, 6) lock the cable. Then I'm off, I love it. The locks are a bit tight & tricky. My driveway is 700 ft of gravel so I'm a bit concerned that dust could make the lower lock difficult. Suggestion anyone?

Thank you for your review. It is common for the Thule locks to be sticky when they are new. lightly tap the key all the way into place in the lock core the very first time you use it so that it seats fully. You can use a rubber mallet or small hammer to gently coax the key into its fully-ed position. That usually loosens it up. Please let me know if you need more help.
Very nicely built all the bolts and washers fit perfectly, without the hitch installed.
While trying to mount the hitch, one side (the driver's) was slightly off by a millimeter. It was as if the whole side of the hitch had been bent or welded at an angle.
Currently a tiny bit of dremelling and filing (on the thinner end ) will fix it. The other side is already pressed against the tub for the 3rd row seats/ cargo area.
Great quality product at a great price. Fast free shipping!
Unfortunately did not fit my 2016 Toyota Rav4 hybrid. Wasted too much time and ruined my plans for the weekend.
Hitch was overall too narrow (by 1/2 inch) for vehicle frame.
Perhaps faulty product or slightly bent? Regardless, the bolt holes on both sides didn’t have adequate room, see photos.
Will return for refund.
I have experience working on USAF aircraft, so it would have been an easy install had the hitch fit properly.

Hi Nathan, Thank you for your feedback! This hitch is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. Trailer hitch receivers can flex during shipping due to the ears of the hitch being made out of mild steel. The mild steel is used to help absorb vibrations from the trailer to the tow vehicle. The ears can be flexed back into shape without compromising the hitch. I have attached a helpful article that goes into detail of how to flex the hitch back into shape.

Excellent product. I am a 68 year old woman with no jack and I installed the hitch by myself. So don't be scared, you can do this. Took me a few minutes, blocked it up and then installed with a torque wrench and also installed the bracket for the wiring connector. The wiring was pretty easy also. I did watch videos. They were great.

Hi Glory, does the hitch have a sticker on the side plate listing the part number? If so, can you provide that number? Can you give me a brief description of how the hitch doesn't fit? Has anything been bent?
Very satisfied. Nice finish. Came undamaged. Perfect fit for my 2011 RAV4. Good instructions. No cutting or alterations required, other than unbolting and removing left rear tow hook, which is to be replaced by left mounting point of receiver. Was able to do alone, with help of a cooler to support opposite side as I secured first bolt. Be sure you have an 8” plus extension for your socket to give room for ratchet and torque wrench. Also, a ratchet strap should be used to support exhaust, which must be slipped off of hanger to gain access to right side bolts.

Hitch still works great. The finish still looks good after one year in Minnesota.
I spent half of the day trying to put this thing on my own vehicle, only to decide to take it to the Shutters auto repair place in Alexandria, Mn, which also is a U-haul business. They tried and said it was the wrong size. Your customer service person was nice and told me they would send me a UPS Pick up slip.
Great product, took about an hour as the holes had rust and needed fixing

Glad you are liking it so far, Corey! What year RAV4 did you install this on? And how did you clean the rust out? It a very common issue on vehicles that aren't basically brand new.
Ha, I don’t want to get into the installation. Let’s just say it was rough. I’m def a beginner though, and it had nothing to do with the product. I’ve got an older 2015 rav and weldnuts were full of corrosion and rust. The northeast. Finally got it installed after a total time I’d rather not say ha. Product is solid and looks great. Thank you.
Super easy install on a 2008 Rav4 Limited... and it WORKS with a 2 bike Kuat rack!!! Rack clears the tire cover when folded and the inside bike mount has room when loaded. If you have a recovery hook on the left rear side, it has to be removed as the hitch uses one of those mounting locations.

Glad to hear that you're able to hit the road with bikes, no issue! Install looks great :) What kind of biking do you enjoy?
This hitch is solid, and I feel secure loading up a heavy-duty ebike rack with two heavy bikes loaded. I'm glad I did my research before purchasing.
Perfect fit fast shipping 5 star thanks.
Ps you may want to mention a trailer wiring kit when you sell a hitch.
We forgot all about it somehow.
Good product quality. It was quite easy to install, especially with the help of your video and several other YouTube videos that gave me slightly different views that increased my confidence. I rolled the hitch into place on a furniture dolly and supported the tailpipe from below, which kept bungees and straps out of the way. Several different length ratchet extensions made the process easier. I think leaving the tow point in place after mounting the hitch might be a good idea. The hardest part was torquing the bolts to 80 ft-lb, upside down, with a long extension and almost nothing to brace my body against!
I am a do it yourself guy. This is the 2nd purchase of a hitch receiver from etrailer and third install, one was a swap.
First two went great, this one not so much. The holes didn't line up on the width dimensions because the welding heat in manufacturing drew in the top ends. I had to cut a good 4x4 and use a bottle jack to spread them apart by 1" to get the bolt holes to work.
Please let manufacturing know they need to keep a spacer in between while the steel cools back down to hold correct spacing. Otherwise it fits and works great!
5 star excellent reviews are achievable.
The etrailer hitch for my 2017 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid fit perfectly. This hitch is very well made and the matte black finish is excellent. The install was very easy, just watch the associated video. I highly recommend this hitch and etrailer!
Very disappointed that the hitch did not fit. Hole alignment is nearly 1/2 off from RAV4 bolt holes. Going to a machine shop to try to bend it enough to fit. I was hoping it would bolt up within an hour as advertised, it would have if holes were aligned.

Thanks for your feedback, There's a possibility you have what we call a "flexed hitch". This can happen sometimes during shipping and may affect how the hitch lines up during installation. I've attached an article that explains how to correct the issue. Reach out if you have any questions!
Arrived very quickly and intact. Good shape. Going on son's RAV4. Introducing him to the etrailer experience!

Product has performed flawlessly, has been used many times with no issues. Definitely worth the investment, son is well pleased!
Installation took longer than stated in the manual because I had to and widen the trailer hitch. But after doing that installation was smooth. Even though I had to do that, I would still recommend the trailer hitch.
Perfect fit and an easy do it yourself installation project on a 2009 RAV4
Recommend using a 12mm x 1.25 tap if bolt holes need threads cleaned out like mine did.
17mm impact socket to take off the tow plate and a 19mm socket to install the hitch, plus a Torque wrench and an impact driver.
Rubber isolation bushing easily comes off to drop the exhaust out of the way, I used bungees to support the exhaust instead of a strap as shown in the video.
I installed by myself simply lifting and bolting one side on at a time starting with the exhaust side laying on my garage floor. Easy peasy!

Great no problems at all
This is a solid hitch that has served me well over the last year. I’ve used mine for a two-bike mountain bike rack and have driven all over Arizona and California with it. Never an issue and install was simple. Highly recommend.

Solid construction, no issues at all. I use it to haul my mountain bike to trailheads. I really like that I didn’t have to give up too much ground clearance. I’ve never scraped on anything yet.

Thank you for your review! What sounds like is happening is that the hitch may have become flexed in shipping. We have a help article that I linked below for future reference. It talks about a few difference ways to straighten out a flexed or bent hitch.
