Adding a 7-Way and Brake Controller to a 2017 Toyota Highlander with 4-Way Trailer Connector

Question:

I have a 2017 Toyota Highlander with factory 4 pin trailer wiring. I need to add a trailer brake controller and a 7 pin connector. What do you recommend to accomplish this?

To install a 7-Way trailer connector and brake controller in your 2017 Toyota Highlander you will need just 2 items. First, since your Highlander already has a 4-Way you will need # ETBC7 to add the 7-Way, retain the 4-Way, and install the brake controller. I have included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you.

Next you will need a brake controller. I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
