Why Does Brake Controller Install Kit # ETBC7 Come with Three Breakers When Only 2 Get Used

Question:

Why does the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires Item # ETBC7 HAVE 3 breakers? You only show 2 being installed in you video for the 2014 Town and Country.

Expert Reply:

There are two circuit breaker options for the power wire for the brake controller. The 40 amp breaker is for the 12 volt power circuit of the 7-way. The 20 and 30 amp breakers are for the brake controller install. Typically if you use up to 2 brake axles you'll want a 20 amp breaker and if you have more than that you'd want to use the 30 amp breaker.
