Question:
From what I can see this is the only hitch for Dodge Ram 2500 offered that installs in place of oem hitch rather than below it. In many of your videos and QandA sessions you state that the factory hitch/cross beam should not be removed due to loss of structural integrity of frame. That being said, should I steer clear of DT44509? I dont care for the look of the stacked receiver tubes and reduced ground clearance from the stacked models. Is there another option available if I replace the factory welded crossbeam hitch with a crossbeam from a non tow package model?

For your 2004 Dodge Ram 2500, I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" # DT45509. This hitch has the added attachment points to give your truck the structure it needs. This will save you from welding any cross brace onto your truck or living with the stacked look you don't like.
If you were to weld in the structural crossbeam, you could then use the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75420 instead. If you go this route, I recommend the stabilization pin # 63232 and ball mount # BWTS10037B.
For a ball mount for the 2-1/2 inch receiver, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BWTS20037B. This is an adjustable mount to allow you to tow level. It has 2 hitch ball options and a really nice stowing feature to get the ball mount out of the way when you don't need it and it has a clean look.
