For your 2004 Toyota Tacoma, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13013. This trailer hitch is rated for 500 lbs tongue weight or 600 lbs when used with weight distribution system. It is a custom fit bolt on installation and comes with all the hardware needed to install. It has a black powder coat finish over a protective base coat for excellent rust prevention. It is a sturdy square tube design that is 100% made in the USA.
For your trailer wiring, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55379. This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your Toyota Tacoma's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You may also want the mounting bracket # 18144 and # C57202 to protect your wiring and secure it to your hitch.
For a ball mount, I recommend the Rapid Hitch Adjustable, Aluminum Ball Mount Kit w/ 2 Zinc Balls - 4" Drop or Rise, # AM3462. This will allow you the flexibility to transport numerous trailers with your Tacoma without issue. You may also want the Andersen Trailer Hitch Lock and Adjustment Pin Lock Set # AM3493 to secure your ball mount.
