3 Camera Multiplexer Recommendation for RV with 3 Cameras

Updated 09/30/2025 | Published 07/11/2018

Question:

My 2016 Fleetwood Flair came with 3 camera setup right side on right turn signal, left side on left turn signal, and reverse camera when reverse gear is engaged. All thru an unknown multiplexer to a single video out to a Jensen VM9226BT head unit. Decided to replace head unit with new Pioneer AVH-2440NEX as it is a better radio and has a larger screen. Now when turning on headlights or pressing brake the reverse camera turns on. Pioneer tech at Crutchfield seems to think the multiplexer is at fault. Both the Jensen and Pioneer head units require 1 trigger signal to enable the camera. Does this unit provide for 1 + voltage trigger OUTPUT to run to head unit and 3 individual trigger inputs?

The Rear View Safety Multiplexer Box - 3 Channel # RVS-501N that you referenced has a single output and trigger for the video like you need and three inputs for cameras and a trigger for each to know which to switch to. I attached a diagram that shows how it installs.

This would be exactly what you setup would require assuming your problem is the multiplexer box. Which based on what you are experiencing sounds like is the case.

Hi Jameson I have 501-3 box but I have replaced my cameras on the left and right side for turn signals but they are color cameras and they have the 4 pin set up to plug in to the plug out of the 501-3 box camera 4pin but they don’t work and the rear view camera doesn’t work either but the rear view cameras does work when I turn the rv on and I have a radio head unit that is dark not a bright view so is my box bad or do I need a new system Thanks for your time

@Arn If the head unit is having display issues that would be where I would assume the issue is. Either way it sounds like that would need to be replaced so that would be where I would start.
