Question:
2014 Malibu LTZ 2 exhaust tips Which hitch do you recommend? This is my wifes car and she is not thrilled with having a hitch but if it does not look like a third exhaust pipe she may be okay with it. I would mount it to my 17 Nissan Maxima but book says hitch is not recommended. Another concern is I read on another site, for another hitch, that it would not fit an LTZ. What would be the problem with the LTZ config?

I checked with Curt, the manufacturer of trailer hitch # C12115 and they list the hitch as a fit for all models of the 2014 Chevy Malibu so that would include the LTZ trim. I have linked the instructions below and a video showing an example installation for you. Other sites don't have human-power to keep up fit information like we do. Or they are caught up on the fact that the available hitches exclude Canadian models and not US models.
The recommended ball mount with the hitch is # C45017 so for a compatible 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 or for a 2 inch use # 19258. And for a trailer wiring harness you can use # C56176 to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the vehicle.
You could install a hitch on your 2017 Maxima using # 24796. If the manual says "not recommended" that leaves the door open since it isn't prohibiting hitch use. But the hitches for the Malibu are more versatile since they are Class II hitches and the ones for the Maxima are Class I.
