Question:
I need to add a tow hitch to my 2005 Porsche Cayenne with wiring harness. There is tons of information on the web that states if you do not use OEM wiring you will get error codes to the PCM module. Can you recommend the proper wiring harness and if by chance you have a Porsche Cayenne install video link I would be forever grateful.

For a wiring harness that is compatible with your 2005 Porsche Cayenne, I recommend using the 4 Pole Trailer Connector part # C59496 as this wiring harness has an install kit included which will aid install. Unfortunately, we have not had a chance to make an video of this harness on a 2005 Porsche Cayenne yet. I spoke to my contact at Curt and he was not able to confirm nor deny the error code messages.
The only hitch receiver available for your vehicle is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13220. This is a Class III rated trailer hitch receiver with a 2" opening. It is capable of hauling up to 6,000 lbs. of gross trailer weight (GTW) and 600 lbs. of tongue weight (TW). You will need to check your vehicle's towing capacity and abide by the lesser of the two ratings.

I have the Curt hitch installed on my cayenne turbo 2005.... I now have a 4 pin trailer... I would like to connect it to the cayenne, but it's not clear if it will be an issue with light error code... Any harness that avoids the errors? Or splicing the wires will not make an error in my dash? Also can I make it a 7 pin connector?
