Converting from 1 Step to 2 Steps on Coachman Clipper Trailer
Updated 07/26/2017 | Published 07/25/2017 >
Question:
Have a Coachman Clipper by Forest river that I would like to replace the single step with a 2 step. Which step would you recommend? Have look at the steps but the mounting on the trailer is 26inch apart and most of the steps are 25 1/4. The single step has about a 10inch rise to the inside and my wife cannot make it. Thanks

I recommend going with our Lippert Manual Pull-Out Steps for RV - Double - 7" Drop/Rise - 24-1/4" Wide – Aluminum, Item # LC432682. This 2-step model provides two grip strips for sure footing, anodized aluminum rustproof step platforms, and a 7 inch drop/rise, which should be easier for your wife to climb.
Our manual Lippert single steps all have 24x4 inch bolt hole patterns. Based on these dimensions and the information you provided, we are assuming your current Lippert step has the same bolt pattern, though it would be best to verify this before purchasing a new step. The Hickory Springs step I recommended has a 24x7 inch bolt hole pattern, so two of the bolt holes should line up, and you'll have to drill two more bolt holes to secure the step to the trailer. If your RV doesn't currently have a location on the frame that you can drill into, you'll have to create a bracket to bolt the steps into so that you don't drill directly into your trailer floor.
