Expanded Carrying Capacity for Your RV

etrailer cargo carrier

No matter how big your RV is, you'll likely have gear you'd prefer not to store inside. This carrier lets you transport generators and fuel cans, so your storage compartments don't smell like gas. You can also strap coolers, luggage, and other bulky objects on it to free up space inside your RV. Lastly, it's great for carrying wet, dirty, or smelly items outside of the RV, keeping your interior clean and odor free. It has raised side rails that help prevent your gear from sliding off and provide multiple anchor points for a cargo net, bungee straps, or other tie-downs (sold separately).

Bumper Mount, Folding Design

etrailer cargo carrier

Most RVs don't have a hitch installed, and adding one just to carry extra gear isn't always ideal. This cargo carrier mounts directly to your 4" x 4" or 4-1/2" x 4" RV bumper, so you can haul generators, coolers, and other bulky items without modifying your setup.

etrailer cargo carrier

When you're not carrying gear, the carrier folds up against the back of your RV. Remove the snapper pins from each arm assembly, raise the rack toward the vehicle, and reinsert the pins through the upper holes in the mounting brackets. It stays tucked up when parked at a campsite, near a fence, or inside tighter storage spaces.

Easy Installation

etrailer cargo carrier

The carrier is easy to install. Just slide the mounting brackets over your RV's bumper, spacing them 17-5/8" apart (inside edge to inside edge), and secure them with the included M10 hex bolts. Attach the main arm assemblies to the mounting brackets with the included M16 hex bolts. Attach the basket to the main arm assemblies with the included M8 carriage bolts. The included support brackets mount to most RV frames to reinforce your bumper and prevent metal fatigue that can cause your bumper to detach.

Expandable Width

Extension

If you outgrow the carrier later on, you can add extensions to increase its width. A single 24" extension will make the carrier 64" wide, or you can add 2 extensions to make the carrier 88" wide. To install the extension, place additional mounting brackets (sold separately) 24" or 48" apart on the bumper, unbolt the junction between the left and right side of the basket, and bolt the extension between them.

Excellent piece of equipment. I carry two 5000w generators on it & have travelled over 3000 miles around the U.S.. Carrier is still like new except for a little rust from traveling through snow & salt up north.
I always check to make sure bolts are tight, but no issues .
Kate from etrailer is a fantastic rep of the company & highly recommend getting in touch directly with her, rely on what she tells you , she speaks the truth.
I love this company & Kate for being such an asset.

I don't have much to say other than absolutely one of the best purchases I have made for this type of equipment. Very sturdy & well made. Mine is stationary in the down position because I carry two 60lb inverters for when we are boondocking. Kate my sales person was very patient with me . In one year we traveled to Vegas up to Oregon on to Wisconsin & back to Florida. Was quite an adventure & that carrier never shifted once or came loose.

Solid as a rock!!!!! I transport our generator and two 5 gallon gas cans this carrier. The finish has held up and still looks new. This carrier is worth every penny.

by:

Very nicely made product. Had a small issue with install, directions said place bumper brackets 27 in apart, but it was more like 18 in apart actually. Easy fix.
Also, I can’t stand the unit straight up, because it hits the back of the trailer. It would be helpful if there was a pin hole in the rear rack. I made my own hole and it seems fine.

I purchased this to transport a modular fence set that we use at campsites. Unfortunately, this carrier isn't the best suited carrier for this task, however, I understood that going in, and it is the best carrier I could find that most closely matched most of my needs/wants. I am not basing my review rating solely on how it works for what I need it for though. Overall, the carrier itself is very nice. It is heavy duty and is very stable. In this light, it is 5 stars. But I do have a few other thoughts... 1. It's nice that it can raise or lower, however, this is the carriers weakest point. Because of this pivot point, there is slight up and down movement. 2. Despite the slight movement at the pivot point, the carrier is VERY stable! Other than this little bit of movement, it will not budge! Trying to shake the carrier actually moves the entire camper. 3. Part of this carriers stability is due to the fact that it attaches to the bumper at multiple points, rather than a single point like hitch receivers. 4. Since it attaches at multiple points, this also spreads the weight out along the bumper better than at a single point. 5. The slotted floor is both, a win/lose. The slots will not retain water and lends a hand to a lighter overall weight, however, it also makes stacking thin items like the fence I am using it for difficult to stack and requires me to use something else such as wood or rubber mats to make the surface flat and easier to use. 6. It was easy to assemble and install, despite the fact that it did not come with any sort of instructions. 7. I did not need the brackets that came with the carrier since I had already installed a set of these years ago. 8. And finally, price. This items is quite expensive, even for what it is in my opinion. I get that everything is getting more expensive now though, and this was the best option I could find for my needs. However, I do wish the brackets were a separate item and not included, and I believe this would have cut the costs of this item and saved me a bit of money. Now though I have a second set of brackets that I do not need, but I had to pay for... A nice feature about buying this carrier also is that it is easy to extend the length if so desired, although, the extensions are quite speedy too... Overall, if you need a carrier, this is a very nice option and I would definitely recommend it (especially if you haven't already reinforced your bumper with a set of these brackets). As for my rating, I knocked off 1 star due to the price, the lack of instructions, and the fact that I was forced to pay (more) for additional brackets that I didn't need and weren't a necesary part for the actual carrier.

I bought this rack to add to my bumper of my fifth wheel in order to carry a generator and gas can. I haven’t been able to use it on the road yet, but the installation was smooth and the rack seems very solid. I’m happy with this purchase and look forward to using it.

@Vicky I'm so happy this cargo carrier is working great for you guys! What are some of your favorite camping sites in Georgia that you frequent?

by:

Solid built and easy to install. One issue I had was due to the curvature of the back of my trailer just above the bumper, I was not able to stow the rack in the vertical position without notching the rack in two places at the pin insertion points. A slightly longer tab at the pin insertion point would elevate this. Other than that I'm super happy with the rack. Also figured out a way to attach the spare tire to it.

by:

Excellent service and a great working product I’m very well pleased

by:

I was going to build something like this and I saw this on etrailer and thought this is great! Easy to install also. I did modify the cargo rack a little to make it work for me. I have no plans on ever folding it, and I wanted the tool box to fit closer to the trailer wall, so I moved the cargo basket over the bumper mount/hinge and secured with new holes.

by:

This rack is very well built and works perfectly for carrying my generator.

by:

Built well assembly and mounting was a snap.

by:

If I had an issue it would only be the weight of it on my bumper. Otherwise it is well built and as long as my bumper holds with the support brackets that came with it I'll be very happy.

Still working great!

by:

Works great! I installed this unit on the back of my 5th wheel rv to carry my 300 lb. generator. 12,000+ miles later the carrier has held up as designed.

by:

Fits my need perfectly. The only issue was the slot holes for one of the pins was not aligned corectly and I had to drill it out to get the pin to fit through and the hardest part is installing the bumper supports, but I was able to do it and hopefully they protect the bumper welds as advertised.

by:

Carrier got here on the expected day, it was easy to assemble and attach to the bumper. The perfect size for my generator.

by:

Product arrived fast it is built like a tank. I’m not sure if it is by design but when flipped up in storage mode I can still plug trailer in without lowering. Nice surprise.

by:

Nice cargo carrier! It has plenty of capacity to hold my generator and folds away clearing my bike rack.

by:

Very easy to assemble, great quality, very sturdy. The cargo carrier will hold a lot more weight than an RV bumper will so be careful.

Its held up great, no complaints! It still doesnt rattle when its in the up position like so many others Ive seen. Im very satisfied with this purchase.

by:

Received my cargo carrier and boy was I impressed. Very well made and heavy duty. Easy to put together and the perfect sizes. UPS tracking was awesome and package came on time and in good condition. Highly recommend this company.

by:

We order the cargo carrier to make it easier for the husband and I (since we are older) to load the generator at a lower level rather than lifting into a pickup. We will be figuring out a portable ramp to use as well.

by:

Pretty nice for the money, be aware its made you know where so inspect the welds. The bolts are a tad long, comes with locknuts. Also on some trailers the square tube measures 4 1/8 or 4 1/4 so the mounting bracket will not fit without some mods. Anyway so far so good holds the generator (eu3000I) with zero issues and folds up nice.

by:

Rack for my generator and appears to be holding up well. Had a welder put on the supports to make sure it was sturdy. I would have given it a higher rating if it hadn't shown evidence of rust within the first couple of months. We don't get much rain here but only have a little rusty water was showing.

Still working just fine. Showing a little rust around bolts and where paint was thinner. Seems to carry the generator just fine. Did have the attached brackets welded on to the frame to make sure the bumper held up.

by:

Excellent mount and construction had to do some modifications to make the box fit. But overall, I'm very happy with the purchase for my generator box.

Installing on Super C motorhome. Exactly what I needed and description was accurate enough to give me the confidence etrailer is well-known for. Unpacking and assembly was easy and straightforward. What impressed me was that the hardware was already assembled together for easy sort. i.e. washers and nuts on their respective bolt. I use the rack for carrying my smoker grill and it also allows me to use my blue-ox for towing my TOAD. At first I thought the rack, when extended, would be in the way of lifting to extend the blue-ox, however found it was not an issue.
