Can Curt Combo Bar with 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver be Cut to Length and Welded On

Question:
I need to weld a new bar and hitch receiver onto already existing brackets. Is there any reason why I cant cut this to the appropriate length, and then weld the remaining part onto the bar to make the receiver? It seems the bar and receiver are the same material/width/etc. Thanks!

Curt Combo Bar with 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver - 36" Long - Unpainted # C49360 was meant to be used in the fabrication of a trailer hitch. It is ready to be trimmed, welded, and painted so you will be good to go!
