• Can Curt Raw Finish Receiver Hitch be Drilled
  The raw finish Curt receiver hitch, part # C49360, can be drilled with a stainless steel or caride drill bit. You'll probably want to use penetrating oil as well. You didn't say why you're drilling into it but if it's to bolt it on instead of welding it I wouldn't recommend that. Drilling is going to reduce the capacity of the receiver to an unknown amount and could compromise its integrity.

  Curt combo bar # C49360 does not have an official weight capacity rating because it is not an extension. They use this bar and others in the manufacturing of their trailer hitches which have a wide range of capacities. If you can tell me the intended purpose/amount of weight I can tell you if the combo bar will be able to handle it or if something else is needed. But if you are looking for a 2 inch hitch extension then the longest that fits a 2 inch hitch and still has decent capacity...

  I went out to the warehouse and found that the outer diameter of the Curt Combo Bar # C49360 measures 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" so technically it should fit your 2-1/2" receiver. However, this part was designed to be welded and act as a hitch receiver so instead you will want to use the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer # C45048 which gives you up to a 34" extension and was designed to be used this way.

  We don't offer a 30 inch combo bar, but Curt does offer one that's 36 inches long, part # C49360. You could use a chop saw or angle grinder with a cut-off wheel to cut the bar down to the desired length.

  You will need to weld to the frame one way or another to have a hitch installed on your box truck. The hitch on the picture you attached is still connected to the frame underneath, it just runs up through that step bumper. If you wanted to attempt to replicate that setup you could take the Curt Combo Bar # C49360 to a custom fabricator and have them design it to fit your truck.   I reached out to my contact at Curt and they can't give you a rating for a custom application like you are referring to because they can't test it and don't know what tools you are using to drill your pin holes, etc. Drilling holes will reduce the integrity of the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches - 24" to 34" Long, # C45048, we just can't tell by how much.   Since this is such a custom application, you will most likely need to fabricate something as we don't have a specific adapter. You may be able to put a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball like Curt Chrome Hitch Ball # C40007 in the upper hole of the clevis hitch on your Komatsu Dozer if the pin hole is big enough for the shank of the ball.
