Question:

I was looking at your tow hitch receiver for a 2013 Toyota Highlander Item# 13534. In reading some of the reviews they all mentioned that the holes werent lining up very well during installation. I realize these reviews were quite some time ago and was wondering if those issues have been addressed? Also I didnt see any instructions regarding the wiring harness, is that sold seperately?

Sometimes hitches can get slightly bent during shipping and this can be fixed by bending the hitch back into place as long as the hitch only has a slight bend to it. If the # 13534 wasn't lining up I can almost guarantee that is what happened. Some people will use open steps for leverage, vices and even car jacks to apply controlled force to bend the hitch back.

You will want to look for flaking paint and physical stress marks on the hitch before and after you attempt to bend the hitch back. If you see any of those signs on the hitch you should not use the hitch on your vehicle as it has been fatigued to the point of not being safe to use.

The # 13534 has pretty large mounting flanges that would make bending in shipping even more likely. You should note that this doesn't happen to most hitches but it's a possibility.

For trailer wiring you then would want the part # C56217 which is a confirmed fit.
