The installation difficulty for Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36538 for a 2013 Cadillac XTS is listed as a 5 out of 10. The scale is based on estimated time to install the hitch with each tick on the scale representing 10 minutes. So at a 5 it would take a professional approximately 50 minutes to perform the installation. We usually estimate a novice will take twice as long so that would be 1 hour and 40 minutes.
If you plan on doing some towing the recommended ball mount is # 36061 and it comes with a pin and clip. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19257 and for a 2 inch use # 19258.
And for a trailer wiring harness I recommend ZCI harness # 119250KIT because with it you will not have to splice into the vehicle wiring for installation like you would with the other options.
