We offer a number of hitches for your 2016 Jeep Renegade, both 1-1/4-inch Class II and 2-inch Class III types, not all of which we've had an opportunity to install for a local Renegade owner. The 2-inch Draw-Tite hitch # 76021 is probably the one you are referring to; its installed position is shown in the linked photo. Generally speaking we always steer customers to a 2-inch hitch when one is available since they offer higher capacity and broader compatibility with accessory products.
In comparison to some other vehicle/hitch combinations this one does extend more to the rear. While this may not appeal cosmetically, when it comes down to using the hitch for a hitch-mount bike rack or cargo carrier having the extra clearance between the vehicle and that accessory is a very good thing. There are plenty of instances where our customers want to use a specific bike rack on their car, but the rack's clearance is not enough to allow it to install without risk of the carrier itself or of the inner-most loaded bike contacting the vehicle.
All the hitches made for your Renegade will bolt up to the same mounting points on the car's frame so there will not be much variance in the position/visibility of the receiver tube with the other hitches. The only real difference will be between the two hitch sizes; the bottom of the receiver tube on the smaller Class II hitches will sit a little bit higher above the ground (good for clearance) but otherwise will not look much different than a 2-inch Class III.
Among the 2-inch hitch options I suggest you might prefer one that is a no-drill installation. No-drill hitches include the Curt # C13269, # C12142 .....IF the Renegade has factory tow hooks.
The linked article on hitch rack clearance will help illustrate the value of having more clearance at the back of the vehicle.
