Question:
Do these hubs work with brake drums?
asked by: Dean W
Expert Reply:
The trailer hub # AKIHUB-545-35-K is an idler type hub that is intended for trailers without brakes.
On the linked page you can view all hub/drums for trailers with drum brakes that carry the same 3500-lb axle weight rating, use the same 5-on-4-1/2 bolt pattern and use the same set of bearings, inner bearing # L68149 and outer bearing # L44649. Any new hub has to use the same bearings as your old one in order for it to fit on your spindles. An example is part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K.
These hub/drum parts are compatible with drum brakes in the size 10 x 2-1/4-inches, such as # AKEBRK-35R-SA (right side) and # AKEBRK-35L-SA (left side).
