Question:
I am attempting to rehab an old trailer with no distinguishable markings on it. I have determined that I have 3500lb axles with a 5x4.5 lug pattern. How do I tell if the axles are EZ lube? Not sure which hubs to buy. Thank you,

If you look at the outermost part of the spindle on your axle there will be what is called a grease zerk or grease gun fitting. It will look like a tiny round ball which is where you can attach a grease gun to grease your spindle.
If your spindle has a zerk on it then you have an E-Z lube spindle and you will want to use either the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K if you have drum brakes or the part # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K if you don't have brakes. The price difference between a hub with the EZ lube option compared to the price of a hub without the EZ lube is very minimal so if you aren't sure what kind of spindle you have, it won't hurt to just go ahead and buy one with the EZ lube option. The only difference in the hubs is that the EZ lube hubs come with a grease cap with a removable grommet for easy access to the zerk. Aside from that, they are exactly the same.
We also carry the LubriMatic Grease Gun # L30416 and LubriMatic Grease # L11390 if you were needing some.
I have attached a photo of a zerk in case you are not sure what it looks like. The end that is more rounded is the side that you will be looking at.

I feel it is worth mentioning if there is some type of a "bearing buddy" installed on the hub(s) it is possible you could have a grease zerk but do not have EZ Lube hubs.
