Question:
Hi, I was wondering if it is safe to use a battery grease gun on the EZ Lube Spindles without the risk of blowing out the rear seals? I have a milwaukee M18 grease gun which on low setting will reduce the flow of grease but a max pressure of 10,000 psi.

Care should be taken when loading grease into a hub that is installed on an EZ-Lube spindle. It is very easy to over-fill the hub and apply too much pressure and blow out the grease seals. Even the double-lip seals like # 34823 used with EZ-Lube hubs can be blown out from excess grease pressure.
The standard grease guns we offer top out at a maximum pressure of 7000-psi, but many are rated for lower pressure, such as # ALL940798 (4500-psi) and # L30100 (3000-psi) and it's cartridges # L54FR. That said, we do also have one that is rated at 10,000-psi, LubriMatic Ultimate Grease Gun # L30480.
If you were simply topping off your hubs before a trip I would recommend a lower pressure grease gun. One of the higher pressure models like yours or # L30480 would be better suited to filling hubs that have just been installed.

Hello Adam. After reading your answer I am now concerned about blowing out the grease seals on my EZ-Lube hub. I'm using the L30480 grease gun that etrailer.com has recommended. How do I know if I'm delivering too much pressure or if I'm overfilling the hub? It is my understanding that the whole advantage of the EZ Lube is that if there was excessive pressure the release would be the outer bearing?
