Question:

Hello. I need a baseplate for a 2005 Jeep Wrangler with a stock front bumper. I see the BX 1118 will work but what about BX 1124 with the removalable pins? Will either one work? Thanks.

The correct Blue Ox base plate for a 2005 Jeep Wrangler with a u-channel type front bumper is their kit # BX1118. Their kit # BX1124 only fits right-hand-drive models with a double-tube bumper.

Flat towing also requires a number of other component parts, including the tow bar, safety cables, a wiring/lighting kit of some kind, a high/low hitch adapter and a supplementary braking system for the towed vehicle. All of these items are covered in the linked articles on flat towing.

The tow bar I recommend for use with these base plates is the Blue Ox Alpha # BX7380 which is the single one most preferred by our Jeep customers. It includes the required safety cables. For the easiest and least costly lighting option you can use a magnetic light kit # TL21RK and avoid having to cut into the Jeep's wiring or you can use a plug-in custom harness # HM56202.
