How Does Curt Stud Mount Lunette Ring C48520 Install on a Trailer

Question:

How does this exactly install? Do you have to weld the nut or do you drill a hole for this to rotate? I understand how it works, just having a brain fart to how to install it on a trailer without any type of hitch.

The Curt lunette ring # C48520 would install through a hole at the front of the trailer (large enough for the shaft) and you would thread the nut on the other side far enough to put the cotter pin through so that the ring can rotate without the nut coming off.

It is hard to picture without seeing it on a trailer. If you install this or a similar ring send us some pictures of the installation!
