Question:
I am looking to customize one of your heavy duty receiving hitches 10,000 towing capacity to remain hidden behind a hinged license plate like the less heavy duty hidden hitches. I have a welding company that thinks they can get the reciever to sit higher/lower as needed to match the height of the bumper, but I didnt know if the heavier duty receivers were more beefed up where the receiver tube meets the cross tube? Thus being too bulky to hide behind the bumper?

The higher the trailer hitch capacity the more steel is used to make the hitch. Higher capacity (10K) hitches like what you are describing usually have a 2-1/2 inch square cross tube or larger (up to 3 inch) so you can measure to determine if you have the space for that size.
Please note that modifying a trailer hitch will make its capacity unknown and the heating of the hitch to weld it can weaken the hitch (unless it was designed to be welded on).
The best recommendation I can make is to use a heavy duty weld-on hitch. I have included some a link to the options we have. Something like # 41990 with some custom brackets made by the welding company you mentioned could work. But this hitch has a 3 inch square cross tube.
