Question:
I have OEM trailer tow package on 2003 Acura MDX. I want to add Prodigy brake controller and 7 pin to 4 pin connector to existing 4 pin plug. Do I need an isotator to keep trailer battery from drawing from auto battery in car?

Expert Reply:
A battery isolator is not absolutely necessary to keep your trailer battery from draining the battery on your 2003 Acura MDX.
However, installing a two battery isolator like part # DW08771, would allow you to keep the trailer connected to the vehicle for long periods of time without the vehicle battery draining.
If you do not choose to install an isolator, you would simply need to unplug your trailer connector when you are parked.
I am including a link to some information on installing the # ETBC7 kit, as well as a demonstration video if needed.
