Boat Trailer Guide On Recommendation for a Deep V Lund Boat Trailer

Question:
I have a deep-V Lund WD-14 and a fairly compact trailer. I ordered CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons 40inch Tall to help guide the boat on and better see when backing down a ramp. When they arrived, I held the posts in place to gauge the size and positioning. The vertical arms barely reach out past the gunwale at the rear of the boat, and thats with the bottom part of the metal arm pulled all the way out and flush with the bracket. In fact, I think the space is too narrow to allow the widest part of the boat just ahead of the middle seat to pass. I suppose if I cut the plastic pipe down below the level of the gunwale, it would work given the deep-V profile. But that seems to defeat the purpose and may end up scratching the side of the boat. Two questions: Can those metal arms be bent outward at all they seem pretty solid? Or should I be working with a different type of guide on. Most other options I saw just cradle the boat and are too short to provide visual help when backing the trailer. If there is not good way to adjust, I will have to return. Wish they had a longer horizontal arm on the bracket. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

It sounds like the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons # CE27620 aren't wide or tall enough for your boat trailer.
Since I can't recommend you bend the brackets a better option would be the # CE27635 which is similar but can adjust out an additional 6 inches on either side and will be 35 inches taller.
