On my boat trailer I have 1-1/4 width by 3 inch tall channel iron and Im wondering if the u bolts will fit correctly?

My c-channel frame is 1.5" x 3 5/8", and I could not find a way to fit the narrow width without a gap on one side of the u-bolts or the other. Despite tightening the nuts a lot I could still put weight on the bunk and move it. In order to "fix" it I shimmed the gap with a piece of 1/2" plywood. To do it "right" I think you'd need smaller u-bolts and corresponding holes in the right places on the brackets.
