which hitch most easily fits the gt? Is the round or square more durable?

We rate hitch installation difficulty based on the amount of time it takes for a professional or skilled layman to complete the installation. The hitch that takes the least time to install is Draw-Tite hitch # 24905. The estimated pro installation time is 30 minutes so their difficulty is rated a 3 out of 10.

Please note that none of the hitches fit models built in Korea; check the door manufacture sticker or VIN. If the second letter is an M it means it was Korean-built.

This, and all of the hitches for the 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT hatchback, have a square cross tube. Neither round nor square is better than the other though some would argue that square tubes are more heavy duty.

If you plan to tow the correct ball mount is # 3594. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring use # C56233.

If you will be using the hitch for accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier, make sure the accessory is rated for use on a Class I hitch. And for a bike rack you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.
