perfect for a small bike rack or an extra storage rack.

2016 Hyundai Elantra

The hitch itself went on with no problems, it's only four bolts. The only negative thing was in the instructions from Curt: "Step 3. Lower module and enlarge the hole to 7/16". Yes, you will need to lower the module to get access to the driver's side bumper support bolts, but I didn't need to enlarge/drill out the module bracket hole to fit it back on the frame once the receiver was installed. Other than that, the hitch looks good and it holds the bike rack with no issues. I recommend using a small ratchet for more clearance when removing and "lightly" tightening the bumper support bolts before torquing them down. Hope this review helps.

Hi Guys,
It gives great pleasure to
write this review. The instructions were very good and easy-to-use. Went just as it was supposed to. The low profile is what I like the ,it's not easily seen, and what you do see looks factory. My main purpose of hitch is for my bike rack, and it worked out great. Thanks for great website, and all the follow-up from the beginning to end.

by:

Hitch arrived through UPS on time and without damage. Instructions were clear but I had a hard time getting to some of the bolts under my car since I had a box in the way that wasn't in the instructions. No big deal. Finally got everything installed and looking good. Took about an hour.

Great hitch! Easy to install and never had an issue.

No instructions are perfect - instructions/images/ process. But i have to say these are very well done. I am a technical trainer/developer so i deal with instructions and processes daily. Your writers/technicians produce good information, professionally done and it seems you listen to your customers.
The product fits very well, no extra work needed to make it fit and the quality is good.
I did not quite understand the need to drill a 7/16 hole in the evaportive module.
A special retaining washer was built into the mounting flange possibly to hold the unit in place before the nut is installed? Anyway, maybe the larger hole helped remount the module by providing more clearance?
I did receive hitch with 8 inches of it hanging out the box, otherwise no damage done. Well made product - Good cust service - excellent instructions - Hassle free shipping all improve CRM ~Customer relationship management/ customer satisfaction. David

Only reason I didn't go 5 stars is because I have yet to utilize the hitch for what I needed it for yet. I just needed a strong solution for a couple mountain bikes. The Elantra GT offers zero mounting capability aside from a roof rack which cost a fortune. Also, this hitch is FOR THE GT HATCHBACK, for some reason I could never get other sites to confirm it would fit. The Elantra and the Elantra GT have different set ups in the rear and these parts do not cross over. Installation was as advertised for the most part, it took maybe 40 minutes total. I did not have to drill anything at all, it went on very easy and everything lined up accordingly. You will need to undo the 2 muffler bushings and let the muffler hang down out of the way. Squirt a little lube on the bushings and they pop right off without tools. They ask that you drop down the Evap cover on the driver side but, I did not need to do that. I did have to push that side up fairly hard as the plastic on the cover is a little bit wider than the mouth of the hitch. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10 for installation 1 being easy 10 being difficult. I would place this at a 4 on that scale. It tucks away nicely and doesn't look ridiculous. This hitch feels very solid and has me confident I will have no future issues. I learned the hard way. Do the center mount first and leave it loose. If you do the sides first, you will not be able to get the center mount in place. I had to drop it down and start over because I did the ends first ?? Hope this was helpful for someone.

Just a few comments on the installation.

Regarding
Step 2- you need to remove the front and rear nut to move the module enough to get it out of the way.

Regarding Step 3 - not sure why they are saying to enlarge the hole - the holes are an exact fit for the bolts provided so there is no need to enlarge any holes. I would recommend you check before doing any drilling. The hitch went on with no issues and without any drilling - the 3 provided bolts went in perfectly.

Only other issue if that there is a flange on the bottom of the bumper support. A spacer should be provided to ensure the hitch is bolted flat to the bumper support. I added two washers between the bumper support and the hitch to fill in the gap.

The hitch was easy to install - the only thing that slowed me down was the instructions in Step 3. After disregarding the instruction to enlarge the hole - everything was good. Took 30-40 minutes to install. Hitch appears to be of high quality and should function as promised.

Customer service was outstanding - the wrong hitch was sent the first time and was provided with shipping label to return it and the correct part was shipped promptly. I haven't been credited for the returned part yet - but I don't foresee any issues.

My c11400 Curt hitch installed in 30 mins without a problem. The pictured instructions were very helpful. I installed it my self while only passenger side jacked up. I was very pleased how it looked very professional. I found my hitch at etrailer for 60 dollars less than Curt website was selling them. Great product. The gentleman who I spoke with their chat format sold me on the C11400 hitch. He was very helpful. Thanks so much I'm very happy with my new hitch.

by:

The hitch installation was a bit difficult but not because of the instructions it's because the vehicle wasn't designed from the factory to have a hitch, but the instructions could have been better. It was I believe how the hitch had to be made to fit the application.

As far as tightening the inside bolt on the driver's side with a torque wrench not really possible their is not really any room left to get a socket wrench on the bolt because of how the hitch had to be made. But using a racheting hand wrench work's the best but getting a torque wrench on that bolt after the hitch is installed not really possible. Something could be added to the instructions about that, but a hand wrench would work but time consuming to install the bolt.

My Hyundai Elantra serial number indicated my car was manufactured in Korea. ETrailer item number C11400 was the perfect, exact match for my car and the hitch was installed easily, exactly per the instructions in 25 minutes at my local auto body shop.

My husband ordered this hitch for my daughter's 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. It was a perfect fit and very easy to install. My daughter plans to eventually get a bike rack for the hitch.

by:
2013 Hyundai Elantra

Had it installed by a professional on my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. One year later, all is well, both with the tow vehicle and the hitch, which I use for a Kendon motorcycle trailer.

by:

Product is first rate, top notch, and a compliment to your car. mounting is secure and as stated by the instructions.
One suggestion is to spray or apply some liquid soap or lubricant on the rubber exhaust system supports before trying to remove, they come off and on easy. and jack up the car to gain access.
NOTE: Don't try installation alone. You will need additional hands to hold in place to install bolts!!. I didn't have to enlarge bolt holes
More like two hours to install for us amateurs.

by:

etrailer is my "go to" provider for accessories for my vehicles. This purchase was perfect. My order arrived in a few days and I was able put this hitch on in less than an hour. The directions were clear easy to follow.

I've never been disappointed with purchases from etrailer

It
was harder to install than I hoped so I took it to my mechanic. I had installed my previous buf I recall correctly I could not get under the car to install it myself.

Hitch has been working perfectly. Have done several long trips carrying two bikes with no problems at all. Rock solid!

by:
2016 Hyundai Elantra

Installation was fairly okay. As expected this car is very tight in space so getting in there was a chore. But once everything mated up it looks oem. Doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Using it to tow my small trailer with my motorcycle on it. Would recommend.

by:
2016 Hyundai Elantra

Installation was difficult and required some drilling to enlarge two holes. Other than that, hitch was good quality, solid and worked well the handful of times I used it before the car was to a hail storm.

by:
2013 Hyundai Elantra

Great product, very thorough instructions. I had to use a bit of force to leverage the final hole such that I could get a bolt through into the frame, but after some maneuvering we got it! Probably 2 hours of work for me, including that added difficulty. Korean Hyundai Elantra 2013. I recommend put the bolts in from driver's side to passenger side, so that if leverage is needed, you can use it most effectively on lining up the final bolt rather than while trying to line-up two.

by:
2014 Hyundai Elantra

Looks great and installation was easy. Like other people said you don't have to drill anything out or remove the exhaust hanger. It would suggest getting a flexible joint for a rachet or a racheting wrench as some of the bolts are very tight places. I'd definitely recommend this

  • Installed Clearance Dimension for Curt Trailer Hitch C11400 on 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback
The light-duty Class I hitch # C11400 is a confirmed fit on the GT Hatchback version of the 2016 Hyundai Elantra. We have not had a local customer come in for an install of this particular hitch on your particular vehicle so we do not have the hitch-pin-to-bumper-cover dimension we always provide once we've done an install here at etrailer. I checked with the technical team at Curt and while they confirmed the fit of this hitch on the car they too did not have the dimension available....

You are right that the GT (hatchback) version of your 2016 Hyundai Elantra does require a different hitch model than the Sedan. For the GT hatchback model we have both the Draw-Tite Class I # 24905 and the Curt # C11400 that are confirmed to fit. Between the 2 options I recommend going with the Draw-Tite # 24905 because it offers a bit of an easier installation process and unlike with the Curt model it doesn't require the installation of an additional strap when using the hitch for a...
