How to Install a Multi-Fit Motor Home Trailer Hitch on a 5th Wheel Travel Trailer with I-Beam Frame
Updated 01/05/2015 | Published 01/04/2015 >
Question:
Will this hitch work with my I frame 5th wheel? I like this design over the other option you offer but want to make sure attaching it to my I frame via bolts or welding would be acceptable. Also what is the total from the frame mounting location? I do not see any dimensions showing how low this hitch will hang when attached to the trailer.

I recommend the Curt hitch part number # 13703. With this hitch you would be able to install the brackets on the inside of the I-beam frame and would have 6 bolts holding it in place providing a much larger mounting surface than the other hitch. It is rated for 350 pound tongue weight and 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight.
The dimensions of the Curt hitch # 13703 are:
Width of the brackets is 12 inches.
Height of the brackets is 12-7/8 inches.
Actual length of the main tube is 68-1/2 inches.
Height from top of bracket receiver to the bend (where it mounts up) is 3-3/8 inches.
You will also want to check the owners manual on your 5th wheel to make sure you can install a trailer hitch and for the trailer's capacities.
