The purpose of the Bearing Buddy system like part # BB1980A-SS is to maintain the proper grease level for your bearings. Most of the systems like this have an indicator that shows when the grease is at the right level. It would be a good idea to check the level before any trip you plan on taking.
Every year and periodically throughout the towing season you will want to check your trailer out. You will want to test the lights, and visually inspect the suspension to check for signs of wear or damage. Depending on how many miles you plan on towing, you may want to pull the wheels periodically and visually inspect the bearings for signs of wear. I have attached a helpful article that list a trailer maintenance schedule and how often to check the components.
You will then want to repack the bearing before re-installing them using something like part # L70025. We also offer grease guns like part # L30416, and LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease - 14 oz. Cartridge
Item # L11390.
I have attached a link to a helpful article you can check out.
