Just your basic ball mount, the product is just like most 2” Hitch ball mounts, the service wasn’t very good though.
Ordered on June 15th (product was in stock) took them 6 days to send it out, took another 6 days in shipping and got all the way to my post office two days before leaving on vacation (I needed it for the vacation) and the post office said “box was empty and they notified seller” etrailer sent a new one (got here a week after my vacation) in a damaged box (packaging is horrible, little bit of paper in a box with a 5 lbs ball mount) almost lost this one too.
I don’t believe I’ll be using etrailer in the future (had issues before)

by:

Looks & works great. Easy to install. Make sure you order or have a locking pin and ball to go with it.

by:

This is a great all-purpose hitch. I've used it to mount a heavy-duty bike rack and a steel T-rack to carry a canoe as well as lumber. Most recently I hauled 5 x 8 cargo trailers full of plants, then furniture for a 600-mile move. It was simple to use, problem free, very strong and sturdy. Now that I live on some acreage, I see a trailer in my future, so this will get a lot more use. I drive a 2013 Tacoma, so this is a good size hitch at a good price with sufficient capacity for my needs. I do use a key lock for the hitch as well.

by:

Ordered the whole trailer hitch package but did not include the pin for the ball mount. CHEAP and will never order from you again

by:

Does the job, however there's a lot of play when hitch mount is inserted into the hitch and when towing with an empty trailer. Very loud. Have to buy a silencer that goes around and secures the product.

So far so good - thx for checking

The product was going to come in late but etrailer offered a more expensive hitch substitute for the product I ordered. I was completely satisfied with the service, communication and product. This is the second time I purchased from etrailer.

Instalation was pretty quick and easy, the completed installation worked great on my new trailer.

I know absolutely nothing about hitches! I checked prices and products in my area and was dissatisfied with high prises and confusion over which product would be best for my vehicle. I did an extensive search on the internet and found etrailer.com. I called and talked to Jonathan. He walked me thru the entire order process and explained details about the products. I placed my order and received it in time frame I asked for. My local Toyota dealer installed the hitch without any problems! I am totally satisfied with the pricing, product and customer service. I highly recommend etrailer.com!!!

by:

This fits my 2" hitch just as advertised. Fit and finish is perfect.

by:

The bolts were quite challenging to install on my Tacoma. The inside diameter of the bumper beam is quite small comparatively speaking. I called and talked to a customer rep who was very sympathetic and referred me to a technician who was very helpful. I'm impressed with their service!

by:

It's a ball mount. Feels substantial and well made. Paint looks good, nice looking welding. Can't say anything bad. I understand that the hitch balls come in different sizes and types, but it would have been nice to get a simple hitch pin and clip when buying the hitch and ball mount together, as I was expecting that to be included with one or the other.

Year later, still works fine. Still think it should have included a hitch pin and clip.

by:

Package arrived fast with a few rips in the cardboard box surrounding it. Nothing was missing or damaged so it was not an issue. Took about 30 minutes to install and turned out great. Another 15 for the electrical connection and it was all done. Price is right.

by:

Perfect easy install

by:

This hitch is perfect for my needs. Great, quality products, from a knowledgeable source, offering competitive prices. Also, the brief video assist eased my installation efforts.

by:

I'm assuming I have to buy the pin separately, but this wasn't pointed out to me, so when I got ready to use this I had to stop and get a pin.

by:

It took a while before my son had time to install the trailer package. Took some watching of [online] videos but he got it installed and it works great. We’ve used it a couple of times to pull a small trailer.

by:

Great product! Easy install. Completed project myself in 1.5 hours...would recommend for any skill level...just gotta be willing to crawl around on your back

Great product and fit and finish was ex cellent.

I seldom take the time to write a review but I felt compelled to share my excellent overall experience with etrailer.com. I ordered the C13200 trailer hitch receiver, 2" ball, 2" ball mount receiver, pin/clip, and C56217 wiring harness for my 2017 Toyota Highlander XLE. All arrived in no time and in excellent condition. The installation videos and PDF documents are outstanding. I installed the hitch receiver in roughly 45 minutes - includes time to convince brother in-law to come over to help hoist it into place. Wiring harness installation was a breeze, roughly 20 minutes (again, great instructional videos). I could not be happier with the finished product. Thanks etrailer.com for making this a trouble free installation. If you are considering adding a hitch, etc. go no further, you are at the right place...order away. Its very easy to install and you will save a trailer load of cash!!!

by:

worked perfectly. was a little tricky installing, but found the right guy to make it work.

My boat trailer is about 5k in total and it settled it down a little bit. Had no effect on the U-Haul trailer that I rented to move my son into college. All in all, it was a good purchase.

It does the job. No issues. Don't know what to tell you.

  • Should Trailer Be Loaded or Unloaded When Measuring For Correct Ball Mount Rise/Drop
You can measure your trailer's coupler height with the trailer loaded or unloaded. The travel in the trailer's suspension will not have a significant impact on the trailer's coupler height. When measuring the coupler height, the trailer jack will be supporting the trailer and holding it level regardless of the trailer's load. I have attached a help article on measuring for the correct ball mount for you.

If you're meaning can you use the Hidden Hitch Ball Mount # 80232 in either orientation then the answer is yes you can. You can use this ball mount right side up and get 3/4" of rise, or you can flip it upside down and get 2" of drop.

  • How to Choose Right Ball Mount for 2010 Honda Odyssey Pulling 2008 Jayco Pop-Up Camper
Rise and drop is going to be the most important measurement when it comes to a ball mount; getting a ball mount with an extended length will only be necessary if, for example, your hitch is underneath your vehicle quite a bit and you need the added length to clear that amount of space. In order to choose the ball mount with the correct rise and drop, there are a couple measurements you'll need to take. First, make sure both your 2010 Odyssey and 2008 Jayco are parked on level ground; you'll...

  • How to Pick Out a Ball Mount to Allow Trailer to Tow Level
I am sure we have just the ball mount for you, but to determine which one you would need will require you to take a couple measurements. You will need to measure from the top of the hitch opening down to the ground and then from the bottom of the coupler down to the ground when the trailer is sitting perfectly level. Whatever the difference is between these two dimensions is the amount of rise/drop you would need. I attached a help article that covers how to do this as well for you to...

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for When Rise/Drop Needed is Zero
Sounds like you have a 0 rise/drop. Since there isn't an exact zero rise/drop ball mount the best bet is to go with a ball mount with as little of rise as possible like the Curt part # C45030 which has a 1 inch rise. This will work great as most likely when then tongue weight of the trailer is loaded on the ball mount the trailer will sit about as level as possible.

  • Getting the Correct Parts to Tow a Trailer
If I'm understanding you correctly the answer is yes you can. Your Explorer has a Class III trailer hitch receiver that measures 2 inches on the inside. This means it must have a Class III ball mount that fits into it to tow a trailer, like part # C45030. I've linked all of our ball mounts that'll fit to this page. On the other side the trailer has a coupler that fits onto the hitch ball. With a trailer that small it's probably a 1-7/8 inch ball. It could be a 2 inch or even a 50 millimeter...

It will not matter if your trailer is loaded or unloaded when measuring, you will just want the trailer to be level when measuring for the proper rise or drop ball mount. • Factors to Consider When Picking Out Length of Ball Mount
I would say the shorter you can go without any turning clearance issues will be the safest and best option. The length of the ball mount doesn't typically play a huge factor in ride quality or anything but we have longer ball mounts for trailers that are wider at the nose of the trailer to help get a little more clearance for turning. In theory a longer ball mount would put more leverage on the hitch in terms of tongue weight but most of the time it's not something that's really noticed...
