Question:

I have a 2021 Summit L with 20inch wheels. Will the spare still be able to fit under the vehicle when the dT42GR is installed?

Hi Joe; just like the Curt # C96NR, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT42GR does not allow for a 20" spare tire. However, we do have the Blue Ox Trailer Hitch Receiver # BLU46HR. I just reached out to Blue Ox and they said it will accommodate the larger spare. This fits the 2021-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L so you can install it on your 2021 Summit L.

Are you going to use the hitch for towing? If so, you will also need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C27BR. This plugs into the connection points behind your tail lights for installation. It will provide you with a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights. For a ball mount, check out the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches # C45534.

Robin, Thanks for the quick response. When I click on the link for the Blue Ox 42, a popup indicates that this won't fit my Cherokee L. Is this the case or does this need to be corrected on you site? Thanks, Joe

@JoeK it needs to be corrected on our site. I submitted a ticket for it but it takes a little bit to update. For whatever reason our instruction link is also broken but the instructions show 2021-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L just like I listed it above.

@RobinH Great, thx. It might be helpful if the product details and/or the Blue Ox installation instructions actually mentioned the fitment works with the 20" spare tire.
