Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2012 GMC Acadia

I received this Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" back in December and just installed it yesterday. The hitch came with all mounting hardware including instructions. I went online to review the install video which I recommend to any DIY's it was very helpful. It took more than the 45 minutes that was quoted but that was because of the factory frame nuts were rusted and trying to tap them was difficult because the exhaust would only drop a few inches. All in all it was a fairly easy project for a 68 year old to accomplish. I would recommend this product.

I mounted the hitch to the back of my 07 buick enclave. It fits perfectly and is very sturdy looking. Now I can mount my bike rack on the back so I can carry my two ebikes where ever we decide to go. My two ebikes will probably weigh in at about 110 pounds. I have no doubt that this hitch will be able to handle the load.

Everything fit like a glove. The only hangup I had was that my GMC Acadia ST 2016 went through 3 winters before I installed this hitch receiver, so the weld-nut threads on the vehicle frame were a bit rusted. A had to buy a tap and ream them out with WD-40. Not a big deal but it would be nice if this kit included a tap that size. It's metric btw. Either that, or GM should install blank bolts at the factory. Other than that, everything went well. It only took an hour. Just be sure to use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts properly according to instructions. Proper torque is important. The hitch looks very well constructed, very good weld seams. And shipping was very fast, well packed and included all hardware. I will purchase again from etrailer.

I was faced with going to a local shop and Paying $450 or purchasing through the Etrailer and installing myself for $125. I've ordered from Etrailer before and knew about their supreme quality, top customer service and low prices. I am grateful for the detailed install videos on their website, it helped me with the easy installation that took less than 30 minutes. I bragged about the ease of plug and play to my friends on social media. I loaded a few pictures for reference.

2016 Buick Enclave

Installed this hitch on 2016 Buick Enclave which is equipped with integrated rear fascia exhaust outlets. Step 2 of installation instructions says to remove rear fascia if equipped with integrated rear fascia exhaust outlets. I was able to skip this step completely, which saved a lot of time. Followed rest of instructions to finish the install. It was easier for me to lower spare tire to torque the bolts on frame. Also the fascia door went on and hid the hitch without any modifications. Very pleased with product and etrailer.com, will definitely purchase from etrailer in future. Thank you very much.

2014 Buick Enclave

One of my key concerns was that several vendors apparently ship these trailer hitches unwrapped and without a box. I was pleased to find that the hitch was nicely packaged with the parts nicely secured. I found the video very helpful, and I completed the installation in less than an hour. Using a ratchet strap to secure the mufflers made the job quite simple. I did have help holding up one side of the hitch while I started the bolts, but other than that it was largely a solo effort. My Enclave has only been through one winter, and the bolts threaded in after minimal cleaning the threads with a shot of WD40. The four rubber muffler hangers popped off without use of lubricant or a pry bar. Oh, by the way I took advantage of the low price guarantee. Etrailer provided the price difference plus 10% before the item even shipped. I almost felt guilty about getting a credit when I found a lower price from a lesser vendor. Etrailer has been extremely responsive, and I couldn't be happier with the whole experience.

I went back and refreshed my memory last years review, and I am still satisfied today. The hitch looks the same as when I installed it a year ago.It was a great value and buying experience, and if I am in the market for trailer accessories, I will be back.I think that the etrailer business model of including customer comments and informative installation videos would translate well to other parts markets.

Chevrolet Traverse

Bought this hitch for my '15 Chevy Traverse to pull a 16' lowboy trailer. It is a well made, sturdy design. It was a fairly straight forward installation. It took a little bit of work to make things line up, the trick is not to tighten anything down until you have it all together. Of course I was lying on my back in my driveway, so that made it a little more difficult. I did use a jack and jack stand to raise the frame/body giving me a little more room. Anyway, once installed the hitch worked great. I like the fact that I can put the plastic access panel back on the bumper and the hitch is completely hidden, but still easily accessible. I highly recommend this product.

I have had this hitch for a year now and not once regretted my purchase. I installed it myself (I'm a 23 yr old female) and did it with tremendous ease using basic tools I already had. The product is no doubt high quality and was at the best price when compared to all other competitors. I would highly recommend and will happily purchase from etrailer again.

2014 Chevrolet Traverse

Ordering from Etrailer was easy and with free shipping, can't go wrong. This trailer hitch was easily installed and works great. Installed in less than 15min on a 2014 Traverse. I do not know about other hitches, but what is nice about this one, is the hitch sits well up under the vehicle, so the same plastic hitch cover that came with the vehicle can still be used. I was somewhat expecting to have to purchase the alternate cover which has extension for the hitch receiver or leave the hitch visible. The wife was pleased, that the hitch was not visible.

Comments
Keith, which hitch did you buy and what model Traverse do you have? Where does one buy the alternative cover?
-- comment by: Mike H - 02/02/2015

Keith ordered the Draw-Tite Max-Frame hitch, part # 75528 from us for his 2014 Traverse. There are alternate covers from GM, but whether you'd need one would be dependent on year and which model. This hitch fits Traverse, Outlook, Enclave and Acadia.

2012 GMC Acadia

I received the hitch, ball mount and wiring for my 2012 Acadia within just a couple of days after placing the order. The entire order was well packed in very heavy cardboard and was still in good condition upon arrival. I finally got around to putting it on today and as some others have indicated taking loose the muffler hangers and reinstalling them is probably the worst part of the job. I used some of my wifes vegetable spray and that helped a great deal. I did need my wife to help hold up on the hitch as I got the bolts started so we made a family project out of it.

Comments
Yes, we still like that the hitch has the capability of being hidden withthe optional cover that we purchased for our 2012 Acadia. We will be using it again shortly to trailer our golf cart up to the campgrounds.

Perfect fit on GMC acadia 2008. Easy to install, thanks to the instructional videos. Distance from center of 5/8 pinhole to farthest part of bumber is around 5 inches. There is also a 1/2 hole. Arrived on time. Perfect fit with mounting bracket 18144. Wiring harness 118451 was also easy to install.

2016 GMC Acadia

The online purchasing process could not be any easier through etrailer. I also received emails from etrailer when the product was shipped and they even sent me an email once they were informed that the product had been delivered to my house. Pretty impressive. The packaging of the product was exactly what I would expect. Many reviews from others had mentioned suppliers that have shipped their product without any boxing material and the product showing up being damaged and parts missing. etrailer packages their products in a very durable packing box, the product is mobilized with additional packing material inside to prevent dings and damage, and all of the mounting hardware and instructions are sealed in a bag. Assembly could not be easier. eTrailer has created a great You Tube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEqrluxIw5o which made installation a breeze after watching this. I had my 4 yr old daughter help me with the installation (She held up one side of the hitch while I started the bolts on the other side), I dropped the muffler for easier access to the vehicle’s frame mounting holes on one side, and I used the handle nuts that were provide by etrailer to install the bolts through the predrilled holes in my Acadia which made the rear bolt install quite easy. The hitch fit perfectly without any interference and the 2016 Acadia's cover also fits back on my vehicle to hide everything while the hitch is not in use. I timed the entire installation process and it only took me 16 minutes and 10 seconds. etrailer provided clearance measurements for the mounting of accessories which gave me confidence that my cargo carrier would fit. My cargo carrier fits into the hitch perfectly, there is ample clearance between my carrier and my vehicle, and there is enough clearance around the hitch to use a locking hitch pin. You really cannot beat the quality of this product, the easy of ordering from etrailer, the efficient and professional shipping process that etrailer has created, and the ease of installation for this product.

2012 GMC Acadia

I received the hitch in the mail a few days ago, and I must first say that the packaging was very good. The hitch was well protected and boxed up nicely, with no loose parts anywhere. The instructions were fairly easy to follow and installation took about 1 hour. It could have taken less time if I had a lower profile torque wrench. The distance between the top of the muffler and the bolt was less than 2" and the height of my torque wrench and socket were more than that. So, in my case, it took me hanging on the muffler to make enough room to get the wrench in between to tighten the bolts to specification. As I said before, I didn't have the proper tool so I used what I had. For the 2012 GMC Acadia, the installation used 6 bolts, 6 cone washers, 2 spacers, and 2 handle nuts. The plastic bumper cover and the rubber muffler vibration mounts are the only things that need to be removed for the installation. Overall, it seems like a well-built trailer hitch. I look forward to many years of use!

No problem putting on the Hitch our 2012 Enclave. My wife did not want the hitch to show. Done some research and found that GM has a fisacia insert that takes the place of the one you remove. GM part # 25775358. A little pricey but worth it.

Tom, I think part of your response got cut off. The Enclave received a bit of a facelift for the 2013 model year and the changes to rear bumper cover allow for the original cover to be re-installed over a hitch on 2013 and newer. 2012 and older models require a different panel to accommodate a hitch.

Installed on a 14' Buick Enclave. etrailer has fantastic instructions and support I knee what had to be done before hitch arrived. No surprises and was able to tow from TX to WI with no issues. Took about an hr to install by myself without lifting car. Also took pictures to document process. I did have one minor issue when I arrived at the trailer rental place and running lights didn't work. A fuse blew after 1st trip with it. Replaced and haven't had issues since. Very minor and don't think reflects any negativity onto quality of product. I also highly suggest purchasing plug clip mount with this hitch. If not the plug is dangling and it's not expensive to add the mount. Glad I did and it looks nice.

That was the easiest installation of all time! 6 bolts, a plug and some zip ties and I was done. My GMC was already done with all fuses and relays. An hour tops and only that long because I had a hard time lining up the bolt and the nut with the handle. The videos provided were awesome. I'm definitely a fan of etrailer now.

2010 Buick Enclave

The installation video was great. I watched it a couple of times and then backed my 2009 Buick Enclave onto my ramps to get ground clearance. I just followed the procedure in the video. It could easily be a 30-40 minute job, if not for the dirty weldments. My vehicle is 10 years old, so getting them cleaned up to be usable took about 30-minutes alone. But I just followed the video again, until they were clean enough to use. The fit of the hitch was perfect. I was able to do all of the work alone, until it was time to start the bolts into the frame. Then my wife just held up one side of the hitch till I got the bolts started on that side. I was able to start he other side then, by myself. She held up the hitch again as I started the 2 center bolts. I'm very pleased with the results.

I ordered the hitch at 6pm on a Monday and it arrived at 2pm on a Thursday via standard UPS delivery. This installation was a snap. I set my laptop up in the back of our 2011 Traverse, watched the installation video and had it on in about 30 minutes. We also purchased the 118450 wiring harness. • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for Towing with a 2016 Buick Enclave
For a trailer hitch and wiring combo on your 2016 Buick Enclave I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75528 along with a T-One harness; part # 118270 for a 4-Way or part # 118271 for a 7-Way. The hitch (which comes with all the mounting hardware) is the only one that comes with a bracket that makes attaching your wiring connector easier and look more clean, and the T-One harnesses are the most reliable plus they come with relays and fuses to get all of your wiring up and in order. • Measurement From Center of Hitch Pin Hole to Receiver on Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 75528
I went out to the warehouse with digital calipers to ensure absolute accuracy with this measurement and found that from the center of the hitch pin hole to the front of the receiver of the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75528 measures EXACTLY 2.52". For wiring which will give your 2017 Chevy Traverse a 4-way connector (if you do not have a factory connector) and allow you to power your trailer's lights you need Wiring Harness # HM11141150. I also recommend checking out...

  • Cooler Options to Prepare 2011 Buick Enclave CXL for Trailer Towing
According to the online information I found for your 2011 Buick Enclave CXL with front-wheel-drive, the vehicle is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 2000-lbs unless it is equipped with the trailer towing package, in which case its towing capacity increases to 4500-lbs. Both of the 2-inch hitches we offer for your Enclave have a 5000-lb towing capacity but since the vehicle is rated lower, that lower vehicle towing capacity becomes your actual working limit. The hitch I recommend...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2017 Buick Enclave
For your 2017 Buick Enclave, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75528 which will require the removal of the facia door panel. This can be trimmed and reattached if you desire. I've attached a couple photos of this panel removed for you to see.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for 2015 Chevy Traverse With Rear AC
Does your 2015 Traverse have a rear air conditioning unit? If so, this harness will not work with your vehicle. Also, when you ran the hot lead to your battery did you connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal of the battery?

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2015 GMC Acadia That Allows Fascia to be Reinstalled
I spoke with my contacts at Curt and Draw-Tite and they said if your Acadia has a beveled fascia door you should be able to reattach the fascia door, but if your fascia door is flat you more than likely cannot reattach it. GMC made vehicles with both kinds of fascia doors. (See the image I included of a fascia with a beveled door.) The tongue weight rating for a hitch refers to how much vertical weight the hitch can handle right at the hitch opening. This is different from the total...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2015 Chevrolet Traverse
For a trailer hitch on your 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Round Tube Receiver Hitch # 75528. This is custom fit for your vehicle which means no drilling will be required during installation. Keep in mind that the fascia door panel will need to be removed during installation and it's possible that it will not be able to be reattached. Once installed, this 2 inch hitch opening will provide a 750 pound tongue weight capacity and a 5,000 pound towing...

  • Trailer Towing Setup Recommendation for 2014 Buick Enclave
You are on the right track! The Draw Tite hitch part # 75528 is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Buick Enclave as well as the trailer wiring kit # 118270. The wiring mount part # 18144 will also give you a place to mount the 4-way that bolts to the bumper. The ball mount part # C45036 that you referenced is would also work well if you need 2 inch drop. I attached a help article that details how to pick out a ball mount drop as well.

  • What Size are the Mounting Bolts for Draw-Tite Hitch Part # 75528
I have added a link to the instructions below for you to review. There are 6 hex head, M12X1.75X45 CL10.9. The M12 bolts should be tightened to 92 Lb.-Ft. There are also 2 hex head 1/2inch-13 X 1-3/4 inch Gr.5 bolts. These should be tightened to 75 Lb.-Ft. If you need replacement hardware, I would suggest using part # RHK. Enter the brand and model of the hitch, and we can send you a complete hardware kit with all the bolts, washers, nuts etc. for that hitch.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendations for a 2016 Chevy Traverse 2LT AWD
I will be happy to help you select a trailer wiring harness so you can get out there and get to camping! There are a couple of different ways you can add a trailer wiring harness to your 2016 Chevy Traverse: install a harness that plugs in line with the tail light wiring or use a harness that plugs into a factory location and that also provides the accessories to make it functional. The second way is the easier installation so I recommend we look at the best option in that category. If...

  • Parts Needed to Tow Trailer with 2012 Buick Enclave
For a trailer hitch for your 2012 Buick Enclave the Draw Tite hitch part # 75528 is a confirmed fit and will work well. I attached an install video for more info on this. Then for trailer wiring all you'd need is the # 118450 to provide you with a 4-way. The part # 118384 would be the correct kit if your vehicle came with a 7-way and you needed to convert it to a 4-way but it sounds like you don't have the 7-way wiring at this time.
