Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario. Technical Support

Perfect fit for my Subaru Foresters. Not had any problems at all. Highly recommend it!

I'm 61 and I had issues installing the hitch. I jacked up the rear with jackstands and did the whole job on my back. My only recommendation is to insure you have a long ratchet or a cheater bar.

A perfect d.I.y. high quality receiver hitch w/ clear & concise instructions that fit my vehicle perfectly! I would order from etrailer again.

Works as designed - zero issues
Dennis L - 07/27/2022

Installed a year ago on my 03 Subaru Forester and I use it a few times a week. I’ve even towed multiple people out of sand using the bar to tow off of. Pretty sure that is not recommended but the point is it’s a solid product. I live on the gulf coast as well and it has held up well to corrosion. It was an easy install and was worth the money. A great value for sure.

Product came fast and undamaged, included nice hardware and easy to follow instructions. Wiring was simple and was plug and play, real easy. I originally bought this to tow my boat (1800 lbs) but I have also used this for a couple of small campers as well. I would’ve given this product five stars but I had some issues installing the ball mount into the receiver because of a thick powder coat job.

2002 Subaru Forester
Great company,
great design. Went on as the video describes. Less than an hour. Three pictures include installed hitch, exhaust bracket and tie downs that come completely off of the vehicle. Everything is included in the box and the instructions, while the drawings are a little technical, are superb! Just read them and you won't have a problem.

We will use it to carry our MTBs with a Yakima bike carrier.

Review 1-yr after install. Installation was simple and straightforward. I have hauled many various loads in my 5'x8' utility trailer with this hitch receiver. I have even towed a 6'x12' covered U-Haul trailer with my Forester (empty but still). Highly recommend this receiver!

2007 Subaru Forester

Great product, easy install. Took more than hour for me, because I had my neighbors distracting me. All in told about an hour an half. I did discover one trick. We use the help of a floor jack to hold up the hitch as we put the bolts in. It was a big help with jack doing all the work of holding the hitch place.

2005 Subaru Forester

Solid product, designed for easy installation. My second one of these - we have two SG Foresters and I put this hitch on both. I use the hitch for towing two PWCs (approx 1,300 lbs total) and a lighter utility trailer with no problems. I also use it to hold a 1up USA bike rack, which is pretty much in place all the time I’m not towing. It holds my rack and bike securely with no issues. My first hitch is over two years old and still looks great despite the snow and salt we have here.

Installation is straightforward and all the necessary hardware is included. I was concerned about exhaust clearance compared to the Curt hitch but the Draw-Tite clears with plenty of room. The only problems with installation stem from the age of this model Forester. Depending on where you drive, you may run into some rusty nuts and bolts. An air impact driver is key if you can get access to one. The evap canister nuts were the worst on both of my cars. I had to cut them off for one Installation. The canister uses special “bolts” so you might want to order some from Subaru before you get started.

Make sure you start ALL of the hitch mounting bolts before you tighten any of them. You will need to wiggle the hitch around to line them all up. I installed my hitches by myself, using a jack stand to hold one end while I started the bolts on the other side.

The hitch is mostly hidden when installed. You just see the receiver, not the frame.

2003 Subaru Forester

I have 65 lb fat tire e-bikes and confuse if I can get away with the swagmen or have to go with the Hollywood HLY74FR which you are out of stock?

Super poor quality. I have always liked Draw-Tite quality. The welding is horrible. The receiver is obviously crocked. Quality control failed. Very disappointed

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you.

2008 Subaru Forester

Just as described. Great fit on my 2008 forester

Arrived with a lot of songs and scratches and chipped paint. Overall seems good but was disappointed with how it arrived. Still haven’t put it on as I want to touch up the missing paint before doing so .

When it comes to shipping hitches, it is very common for them to arrive with scratches. We recommend using a rust-oleum type paint to cover the scratchesspots. This will prevent any corrosion in the future. I have a link attached for your reference. I have also sent this over to customer service for them to reach out to you.

Very easy to install, read all instructions prior to installation

Great, no problems at all !

Fits perfect and sits way up high….can barely see it! Shipping was super fast and customer service was amazing.

2007 Subaru Forester

Met/Exceeded my expectations. Didn’t come with very comprehensive attachment instructions, but I followed a hitch attachment video I found online. Put it together quickly and it feels super solid.

Great for what I needed with my little suv and dirt like a glove accounting for the exhaust pipe and everything!

I love it. Works well. No need for a pick-up truck. Might be buying another one for my Subaru Impreza outback sport.

Ordered 5 days ago, came in today. Installed in less than an hour with no issues. I included a pic, but as promised, you can hardly see the hitch on the car, but look close, there's a little reflection below the license plate. Great company, fast shipping and they communicated well after I ordered, including a follow-up after I received it. I definitely recommend etrailer!

Good product; installation information with potential problems could have been better. The charcoal cannister and muffler brackets/grommets needed to be lowered/removed. Many details involved were complicated. The change of the wrench needed from 17mm to 19mm was unexpected and not spelled out. Many curved balls on this DIY project!

2007 Subaru Forester

Fits perfectly no issues 2007 Forester

2006 Subaru Forester

This hitch is for my 2006 Subaru Forester. Couldn't ask for a better fit and easy install. I will keep buying from etrailer because everything I have ordered has been great with no problems at all.

Been using it on my Forester for over a year. Install was medium difficulty, but I can now take my bikes anywhere.

The product is well made and a very easy install.
I would recommend this product to anyone.
Very happy with its performance.

Fits my 2003 Subaru Forester perfect. Sits tight to my frame and I’m never concerned about any type of bounce or the bolts loosening. Was very easy to install after watching some videos on how to get around the muffler and all the bolt lined up exactly where my frame had holes for them. Overall 5 stars for the ease of install and the peace of mind any time I put bikes or cargo on the back of the car.

As long as you stay under the towing capacities of this hitch 3,500 total trailer weight and 300 lbs tongue weight this hitch would work just fine.

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" # 36311 has a cross bar that measures 2-1/2 inches wide by 1-1/2 inches tall. The bar is approximately 45 inches long when I measured from one end to the other inside the tube, but the angles in the bar may increase or decrease that measurement by about 1/4 inch base on the front or back.
