  • Tekonsha

Install your electric trailer brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in port in your vehicle.

Features:

  • Plug-in wiring adapter allows for quick, simple installation of your electric trailer brake controller
  • No cutting or splicing required
    • Custom connector end plugs into the built-in port in your vehicle
    • Other end plugs into the back of your electric brake controller
  • Compatible with time-delayed and proportional brake controllers from TrailerMate, Draw-Tite, and Tekonsha
    • Brake controller must have built-in plug for adapter to connect - will not work on controllers with pigtail wiring harnesses
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Note: To illuminate your vehicle and trailer brake lights when you activate the manual override on your brake controller, use this adapter in conjunction with the Tekonsha brake controller converter with 7-way adapter (30235-P - sold separately). Required for use in the state of California.

Installation of Tekonsha Brake Controller Adapter

This adapter plugs into the 5-pin connector on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.

To install your electric brake controller you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein these wires are run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. Often, a brake controller wiring harness is included with your tow package. This harness plugs into a port beneath your dash and connects to the four wires of the brake controller. If, however, you have a brake controller with a plug in place of the four loose wires, you can use the Tekonsha adapter.

This adapter requires no cutting or splicing of wires to install. It is designed to plug directly into your electric brake controller for the simplest installation possible. Because there is no hardwiring, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time and securely stow it away.

Easy install. Good value for the money. Easy to adjust and Taylor for different trailer weights. I have had no issues.

by:

The Jeep dealer recommended I contact etrailer and they were right. Everything worked great, the installation was simple and a much better solution than available from the factory.

The Tekonsha #3073-P worked as advertised, plugged it in my Jeep Gladiator then my brake controller! Seems to be a well made wiring adapter. This will help with the electric braking on my trailer.

by:
2024 Jeep Gladiator

I have not installed the adapter yet. However it is what I was looking for to install my Tekonsha brake controller into my 2024 Jeep Gladiator.

by:

Easy to install

by:

Fast delivery and just what I needed

by:

Used this in my Gladiator and it has performed as expected. I pull a trailer that comes in just under 4K lbs. dry with electric brakes and they perform exceptionally well. Install was quick and mostly painless other than the slight gymnastics required to get at the plug in the vehicle. The brake controller is mounted by my right knee and the cable was plenty long enough.

About 15000 miles pulling the camper so far and I have not had to revisit this cable.

by:

Used this for my 2020 Jeep Gladiator and it was super simple to install. Just plug and play. Jeep leaves the end kind of dangling under the left side of the dash and the adapter just plugs right in. I used the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller and together they have worked perfectly pulling my custom camper

Working great

by:

wiring adapter did not fit. the connection on the controller end was for a different type brake controller. I had to cut and solder wires to fit hard wiring harness to custom wiring harness to use. I e'mailed as no one would answer phone calls and was told that there would be no issue and the custom harness was plug and play. Not true!

It looks like you are trying to use this wiring harness on the 2020 Jeep Gladiator with the Redarc brake controller part # RED44FR. You will need to use the adapter part # 331-TPH-017 to use the Tekonsha wiring harness with the Redarc without hardwiring.

by:

This does not connect to the TowPro elite controller without cutting it and them splicing it to the controller tail. No where in the description does it say this and you are paying a $100 for something you HAVE to modify. I was told by their tech that an adapter for Jeep to the TowPro elite controller is not made. You will now have to spend more money to buy butt connectors and heat shrink to make it work. NOT PLUG AND PLAY!

The Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers part 3073-P is recommended with the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite part 331-EBRH-ACCV2 so that you do not need to splice into the vehicles wiring. The plug does plug into the vehicles factory plug under the dash and can be connected to the 331-TPH-017 adapter that plugs into the brake controller so splicing is not needed.

by:
2020 Jeep Gladiator

The 3073-P harness worked as advertised; my primary complaint is that its price has jumped from $30 to $95 over the past few months and the backorder took almost two months to fill. It was preferable for me to have an OEM cable in my Jeep Gladiator for the existing tow package, but it would have been a lot quicker and cheaper if I had just hard-wired the Redarc tow brake controller into the vehicle's wire harness using its provided connector. Note that in order to use this 3073-P harness, it also required a 33-TPH-017 harness ($23) to convert it over to the Redarc connection. to summarize, use of this cable unnecessarily added an extra $118 to a controller that already costs $208.

Jeep

I installed a Curt Spectrum in my 2020 Jeep Gladiator using a Tekonsha 3073 harness.

The Tekonsha’s grey connecter pluged directly into the factory connector on the Jeep. I cut off the black connector & the connector off the Spectrum, and soldered the wires together color for color. Be carful not to cut off the resistor in the harness as the system needs it. I soldered the wires cuz I hate butt splices & the problems they bring.

I mounted the controller under the steering wheel behind the big trim panel using the stick-um provided & ty wraps.

I mounted the control knob to the left of the steering column & ran the wires thru a small hole I poked in the vinyl flap & sealed it with a bit of RTV sealer.

Haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but based on other peoples responses, it should work fine.

Product works great. Installation very easy.
etrailer delivery time was a bit extreme. I ordered from etrailer on the recommendation from a friend. It took 7 weeks to receive my brake cable. Upon further research I could have gotten it in 3 days from another dealer. etrailer never called or emailed to explain delivery situation until I contacted them for an update. Product great. Service not so much.

Plug and play. Worked flawlessly with our 2020 JT. Allows the Tekonsha controller to really work it's best. We use this to control our off road trailer over some challenging terrain as well as help us stop in heavy traffic. etrailer shipping was crazy fast. We love etrailer and come back again and again!

by:

The trailer brake wiring harness fits like an OEM part. Very good quality, fits perfectly. This is my second Tekonsha Trailer Brake unit and their products have performed flawlessly.

by:

I contacted etrailer to ask exactly what was needed to wire a Redarc brake controller I intended to purchase from them for my 2020 Gladiator with tow package and was given incomplete information. Yes I needed theTekonsha 3073-P wiring adaptor but I also needed a controller harness to connect the the adapter to the brake controller. It’s ordered now but installation is delayed and I had to pay additional shipping. I’ll let you know what I think of the products once installation is complete.

by:

it worked had to splice a few wires was not totally 100% plug and play but it did the job.

Delivery was very good. However I was very disappointed once I completed the Redarc install only to find out the knob was bad. I called customer service and talked with Toni Lynn, explained my situation and was told she would get one out to me right away on a emergency status. I hope that this happens and I have it by Monday 8/22/22. I’m supposed to pick up my new trailer on Tuesday 8/23 and could really use a function brake controller. My rating would be much higher if it weren’t for this issue. Hopefully This will get resolved as told, if so my rating will definitely be higher.

Have a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Max Tow. Adapter is literally plug and play, just find the plug under the dash drivers side. Length of cable on adapter is long enough for mounting location options for the brake controller.

by:

Fast, easy, accurate ordering. Fast shipping. I was familiar with the product (Tekonsha P2 brake controller) as I have had a owned and used a couple P2s in other trucks. 20 minute installation, plug and play with the optional harness.
