Question:

Where is the trailer brake controller plug for a 2026 Ford Ranger with a 7 pin tow package, but without a integral controller?

Hey Scott! Your 2026 Ford Ranger may or may not have a brake controller port/plug, even with the tow package. There will be four wires coming out of a large wire harness by the driver side firewall, left of the brake pedal, which can be wired to the brake controller wires. The port will be in the same location.

If you have the brake controller port you can use the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED67CR with the custom wiring harness for a plug and play installation. If you don't have the port, just the wires, you need the # RED52VR with the universal wiring harness to splice-in for installation.

What are you towing with your Ranger?

FYI…I went to two different trailer techs and they said they can’t find the four wires you spoke of on my 2026 Ford Ranger with a tow package, but w/o the TBC.

@ScottB if you have the tow package with a factory 7-way that brake output wire runs somewhere. Perhaps you don't actually have a factory 7-way? They won't install that and just leave the brake output wire off. So assuming you have the factory trailer connector, it is there.

Do you know what the colors of each mean? The don’t seem to match the colora of the wiring. There is a green, a purple, a black and a blue wire. Thanks
