Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within the jack storage compartment of your rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Great product. Video was "spot on". This was a great project, and I saved a lot of money by doing it myself.

Great productThis product was wonderful.
I just want to say that I have never ordered from another company with better service. These people are really on top of it. Thank you for the excellent service.

by:
2011 Toyota Sienna

Installed it on my 2011 SiennaInstallation went ok. However there is no mention of where the brown and red wires get connected. This needs to be added to the intallation instructions. Also if the picture of various steps were in color it would likely solve thei problem. The Etrailer tech support is excellent. Way above average.

by:

Good instructions, long heavy gauge wire to reach front of vehicle was nice. Install was relatively easy and is completely out of sight. Haven't tested yet.

by:
2012 Toyota Sienna

excellent product with great instructions for easy installation

by:

Clear instructions. Easy installation of parts. Most time was gaining access to the tail light areas and running wire to battery.

by:
2011 Toyota Sienna

I had a buddy that was a Stereo installer for a long time install the wireing. It looked easy for him but if i was doing it i would have been a bit confused. Other than that it has worked awesome.

by:

Good product, easy to install, it arrived very quickly! I would definately order through etrailer again!

by:
2011 Toyota Sienna

I purchased the hitch from etrailer for my 2011 Toyota Sienna. I was suprised how fast it showed up on my door step and just as suprised on how short of time it took me to put it on. Start to finish was 35 minutes. It looks great as you can see by the pictures. The wiring harness was just as easy, the hardest thing was where I was going to put the wire thru the fire wall to supply power to the back. All in all I am very pleased with both products.

by:
2012 Toyota Sienna

The product installation was very easy and the video (Trailer Harness Installation - 2012 Toyota Sienna) made the installation easier to do. The only con was not enough zip ties to properly secure the power wire to the Sienna. Luck has it that I had some laying around the garage.

by:
2011 Toyota Sienna

I would buy from etrailer again, the only let down with the wiring harness is that it did not ship with the wire straps for attaching to the underside of the vehicle. (zip ties were included but not the wire supports/screws to attach to underside of vehicle) Great company.

by:
2015 Toyota Sienna

You ask for a review before I have a working wiring harness. I've ordered 4 different harnesses from you, all of which you say will work on my vehicle, and all of which have connector plugs that do not match my vehicle's. Multiple people there know this, but no support person has been helpful. You have some cheek asking for a bloody review. Photo shows my plugs in yellow, 1st harness in white.

by:

Overall pretty nice setup. Not completely plug and play, as it requires a dedicated power wire run. Also keeps the wire harness within the vehicle, requiring to run through the trunk lid for use. Not a big deal, but can be inconvenient.

by:
2014 toyota Sienna

Fit perfectly and was well made. I had to do lots of research to verify that it would fit with my 2014 Toyota Sienna LE but it did fit. So if anyone else is in that situation you are in luck.

by:

Couldn't ever get the harness to work so we never used it. I've installed several of these types of things over the years and many a hitch, so don't think it was me. Could have been me though, I just got tired of trying to chase down the issue. My son wound up totaling the car 6 months after I installed it, so irrelevant now. Compared to other harness systems, I wouldn't buy it again. Maybe it was because of Toyota's design and the way you have to tap into things. Anyway, not really a fan of this one and won't use it if it's an option for the Highlander that replaced the wrecked Sienna.

by:
2014 toyota Sienna

The main black wire that goes from rear of 2014 Toyota Sienna should have been a little bit longer. I made it work but it needs lengthened. The online video instructions were very helpful and excellent!

by:

Hitch is great, good quality with quality hardware. It was a bit more challenging to install than advertised, but I think that was partly because of some very minor damage to body clips of the rear bumper, so not etrailer's fault.

by:
2018 Toyota Sienna

This is for the SE model only. It is hard to see that in the description but be sure you have the SE or the pin connections won’t fit.

by:

This wiring harness was fairly easy to install and has worked great so far.

by:
2013 Toyota Sienna

Didn’t like how its exits the interior right above the exhaust and has to cross over to the driver side to reach the battery. If I could do it again, I would purchased the Curt brand harness instead.

  • Troubleshooting T-One Tee Connectors Not Fitting a 2016 Toyota Sienna
Thank you for the photos! The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118498 you purchased is for a 2016 Toyota Sienna SE, but the connectors you have in your photos look like you have a non-SE model so you'll need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56261 instead. If you look at the connector photos for the Curt wiring they seem to match with the photos you sent in. I'm also linking an installation video on a 2016 Sienna (non-SE) for you to check out.

Hello Jason, thanks for reaching out. The Tekonsha # 118498 will fit all models of the 2013 Toyota Sienna. It was only after 2015 that Toyota added different plugs for the SE models. I can see how the way we have it listed is a bit confusing. Basically it says the # 118498 wiring harness will fit both the SE and non-SE models. • Why is Trailer Wiring that Draws from Vehicle Battery Better than Non-Powered Kit
The benefit to a non-powered trailer wiring harness is that it's a bit easier to install since you don't have to run a wire up to the battery of the vehicle. The advantage to a powered kit is that it does a better job protecting the taillight circuits of your vehicle. Instead of drawing power for the trailer taillights from the vehicle taillights it only uses the vehicle taillights as signals and then draws all the power for the trailer taillights from the vehicle battery. In the long run...

  • Why Does Trailer Wiring Harness have to Connect to battery on a 2011 to 2016 Toyota Sienna
Powered trailer wiring harnesses are not tested or rated for any alternate installation method. Installing it by attaching the power wire to a power outlet 12 volt wire will void the warranty. Also many times those outlets are not the only component on the fuse and/or there could be a relay that has other functions. So if the wiring harness is drawing power and whatever else is fused with it or that uses the same relay is drawing power then it can cause more costly electrical problems. You...
