Best Brake Upgrade for Towing With 2026 Ram 3500

Published 08/07/2026

Question:

I have a 2026 Ram 3500 that gets used pretty hard between pulling a loaded gooseneck for work and our horse trailer on the weekends. I'm looking at the Timbren BES brakes as an upgrade before I start putting a lot of miles on the truck. I'd like to upgrade the front and rear but I'm not sure if I should just do the pads or the pads and rotors. What would you recommend?

Hey Jake! With the amount of towing you're doing, the Timbren BES brakes are a great upgrade for your Ram 3500. If you don't have the high-output transmission, you can either upgrade the front and rear pads while keeping your factory rotors, or replace the pads and rotors together with the complete BES Brake Upgrade Kits.

If you want to keep your factory rotors, you'll need the Timbren BES Severe-Duty Brake Pads # T37HV (Front) and # T29HV (Rear). For the complete pad and rotor upgrade, you'll need:

-Timbren BES Brake Upgrade Kit - Front Wheels # T38HV

-Timbren BES Brake Upgrade Kit - Rear Wheels # T88HV

These use Timbren's severe-duty low-metallic brake pads, which are designed for the additional heat and braking demands that come with heavy towing. They provide a strong initial bite and resist brake fade as heat builds up during repeated stops. The complete kits pair those pads with matched rotors, and that's the setup I'd choose if you want to get the most out of the BES system.

If your Ram has the high-output transmission, the available rear brake options are the Timbren BES Severe-Duty Brake Pads # T58UV or the complete Rear Brake Upgrade Kit # T53HV.

What are you usually hauling on the gooseneck?
