RV Steps with 19-1/2 Inch Wide Step for easier entry
Dial in the right fit by matching your door frame width and entry height. A 19-1/2 inch wide step gives you the footprint you want, and choosing an 8" or 9" rise/drop sets the distance between steps to suit your setup. Some options are designed for 23-3/4" to 26-1/4" wide doorways and specific entry heights, so measure carefully for a smooth install.
Choose steps that make contact with the ground for a more stable platform. Look for options with adjustable feet to help steady the camper and improve traction. If adding a handrail, confirm it won't limit loading in your specific setup. If you're removing old folding steps, consider a storage box for that compartment.
Measure the inside of your door frame and your entry height. Steps are designed around specific doorway widths and an entry height range. Entry height is measured from the top of the doorway threshold to the ground. If your frame uses different mounting panels, measure from the hinge line to position the stairs correctly.
Pick the number of steps to match your entry height and comfort. The rise/drop is the height between steps, so more steps help reduce the drop when leveling makes the last step too tall. If bad joints or pets are a concern, the extra step can make getting in and out easier.
Most installs are straightforward. Check your mounting panel style and follow the matching instructions; if they don't apply, measure from the hinge line to set the position. You may need minor trailer adjustments, like moving a screen door up approximately 3/16 of an inch, or drilling out rivets to remove a threshold mount in some setups.
