RV Steps with Kwikee 3 steps for steady entry

Ready to upgrade your entry? Kwikee 3 steps give you an easier first step and a more natural climb. Check your bolt pattern and mounting clearance; some installs line up while others need new holes. Wiring can run through a door switch and ignition override, or you can use a simple on/off switch without the control unit for custom setups.
Installation can be straightforward: unplug old wiring, unbolt, jack the new steps into place, bolt up, and reconnect. Test operation before final tightening. If holes don't align, re-drill to match your brackets. Inspect for cosmetic scratches before mounting so you can address them prior to use.
Yes, moving to 3 steps can reduce the first step height and add usable width. Verify your ground-to-mounting-plate clearance and the drop/rise you want; a 7 inch drop was noted as a good height. Make sure the bolt pattern matches your current brackets before ordering. Check space so the steps can retract without interference.
The switch lets the steps extend once and stay out until you turn it off and close the door. An ignition override can make them extend and retract with door movement. If extend and retract are reversed after install, swap those two wires. For builds without a door switch, you can run a simple on/off switch and skip the control unit.
They can, but confirm your bolt pattern first. Several installs lined up with original mounting points and were plug and play. Some needed new holes drilled or minor bracket mods on older motorhomes, and there's room on the mounting plate to do that. Support the assembly with a jack—it's heavy—and then plug in the wiring and test.
