The way the connector comes apart & goes back together is very sensible. The terminal connections can accommodate large wires - up to 12 gauge on all except for 1 that can go up to 10 gauge as far as I can remember. They could possibly handle larger but I didn't check since I didn't need the wires that large. They're labeled for standard 7-way trailer wire colors, which is useful for most people but I couldn't go by it. Mine was a custom application. If a spring strain relief came with it that would be awesome but I wouldn't expect it for the price I paid. Hope that info helps. 749531

Haven't wired up the connector yet. Would have been nice if the standard wiring diagram used through out the USA would have been included. Then the trailer would be wired correctly to any vehicle that was using it. Mine didn't have the trailer brake or back up lite shown. 667026

  • Which Pin On a 2018 Ford F-150 Trailer Connector Is For Reverse Lights
Yes, the center pin for the 7-way trailer connector on your 2018 Ford F-150 is for the reverse light circuit. If the vehicle is placed into reverse then the pin will become active and send power to the trailer. I have attached a selection of our backup lights for you below. I recommend the Hot-Line LED Trailer Backup Light Bar part # 328-003-6017W because its's easy to install and has LED bulbs. In order to run the power wire from this light to the trailer connector you can use part # DW07550-1.

  • Parts Needed to Connect Gooseneck Trailer to Semi-Truck 7 Pole Round Plug
You can use the Pollack # PK11700 to install on your gooseneck trailer and create a 7 way plug capable of fitting on the 7 pole round plug that is on a semi tractor trailer truck. For the wiring you can use the Deka Jacketed 7 Wire # DW04914-1 which is a jacketed 7 wire sold by the foot that will allow you to connect to your trailer's wiring and the plug. If you just want to go the adapter route, you can use the Pollack # PK12-724.

  • Does 7-Pole Round to 6-Pole Round Adapter Require Wires to be Connected
A 7-pole round to 6-pole adapter, the Hopkins Trailer Connector Adapter # HM47445 will not actually require any wires - including the brake wire - to be connected to the adapter. You simply plug one end to your vehicle's 7-round connector and then plug in your trailer-end 6-round to the adapter. If you were referring to connecting wire to the Pollak Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Connector - Trailer End # PK11700 you would undo the retainer screw at the base of the connector...

To convert the 7-Way on your 2018 VW Atlas to a 4-Way, I recommend using the Pollak Adapter # PK12716. This will plug right into the Pollak 7-Way on your vehicle and provide you with a 4-Way flat on the other end. It also features a nice tethered cap to protect the connector from debris and corrosion. I have attached a short video demonstration on this adapter that you can also check out.

For your issue, I recommend just using the Brake and Tail Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover for 2" Trailer Hitches # CR-007A when not towing a trailer. It sounds like you just need an incandescent bulb to draw power, so I recommend using this cover which has the bulb. If you pull a trailer with LED lights in the future, the adapter # C35FR and # 20142 have the resistors integrated so there is not need to adapt wiring. • Installing Trailer Plug for Correct Wiring Location for Trailer Functions
Rewiring the Pollak Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Connector - Trailer End # PK11700 simply means disassembling it. The outer housing has a screw to release the connector and give you access to the screws for each wire. You will simply loosen the screws as much as possible and slowly and firmly pull the wire with a pliers. I've attached an article to assist with the correct locations for the rewire.

  • What Would Cause Weak Brakes on a Trailer with Brand New Brake Assemblies
If the brakes are brand new and they are weak I'd assume they are self-adjusting brakes and they just haven't reached the correct tightness yet as sometimes it takes several applications before they are tensioned properly. The easiest way to speed this up is to find a parking lot or somewhere similar where you can drive slowly and slide the manual override of the brake controller several times. You should feel the brake start to get stronger after a while. Or you can manually tighten them....

In order to make the adapter you will need the Pollak Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Connector part # PK11700, the Roadmaster Brite-Lite Wiring Converter part # RM-732, and the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV Blade-Style Trailer...

You can use the Adapter 7 Way (Blade) to 7 Way (Round Pin), # 47595. The blade end plugs into the 7-Way on your vehicle and the trailer round pin 7-Way will plug into the receptacle. I have also included a link to a wiring FAQ article that shows how the two styles differ from one another.

We have two adapters to go from a 7-Way round pin on a tow vehicle to a 7-Way blade style on a trailer. You could use either # PK12-724 or # HM47425. Either would work well for you if your tractor has trailer wiring setup for combined turn signals where the blinkers and stoplights are on the same circuit. If they are separate then you would need to install a second 7-way blade as that would be the easiest way. For that you would need a 7-way like part # 37185 and a signal converter like...

  • Should Blue Wire on Trailer Have Power
The blue wire on a trailer is typically the output wire to the electric brake assemblies. If this is the case on your trailer then the wire should only have power when you are hooked up to the tow vehicle and are applying the brakes, either by pushing on the brake pedal or by using the manual override lever on the brake controller. Since trailer wiring colors aren't always consistent I do recommend verifying that this is the function of your blue wire. You can simply follow the wire...
