Features to know about

Keeps Your Trailer Steady in Crosswinds: Built-In Sway Control with Positive Caster Design

The Blue Ox SwayPro is built to hold your trailer steady even when you’re facing heavy crosswinds or passing semis. The hitch head has a positive caster angle that helps the trailer self-center, keeping it directly behind you while towing. The trunnion bars apply constant tension, and the rotating lift brackets keep the chains tight so sway is kept in check without the noise or jerking of friction-style systems. You get a quiet, solid ride that feels like the trailer and tow vehicle are working as one.

Simplifies Hookup and Adjustment: Rotating Brackets and Preset Hitch Head Angle

Setting up the SwayPro is fast because the hitch head comes with the correct angle already built in—no stacks of washers or trial-and-error adjustments. The rotating lift brackets make connecting the chains just as simple: drop the lift chain into the slot, turn the wrench until the lock pin clicks, and you’re ready to go. It’s quick, clean, and doesn’t take muscle to latch heavy spring bars into place.

Levels Out Your Ride for Better Control: 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW Capacity

With a tongue-weight range of 750-1,000 lbs and a 10,000-lb gross towing weight rating, this system spreads the load evenly across both your tow vehicle and trailer axles. That means no more sagging rear end, no light steering, and no headlights pointing up into the trees. You get a level, balanced setup that makes long hauls feel stable and predictable.

Silent and Durable for the Long Haul: Trunnion Bar Design with Grease Zerks

The Blue Ox trunnion spring bars don’t grind or pop as you turn. Instead, they flex smoothly for a quiet, controlled ride. Maintenance is simple too—grease zerks on the head assembly let you add lubrication before each trip without mess. The heavy-duty powder-coated steel resists corrosion, so even after years of towing, your setup stays smooth and dependable.

Ready to Tow Right Out of the Box: Complete System Included

Everything you need for installation comes in the box—head assembly, adjustable shank, spring bars, lift chains, rotating lift brackets with handles, reducer bushing for the ball shank, pin and clip, hitch ball, and all hardware. With its 13" shank length, 11" maximum rise, and 5" maximum drop, it’s built to fit a wide range of trailer setups so you can hit the road sooner with confidence.

I have had this hitch for a year now and I still love it. I towed my 31 foot TT from South Carolina to Washington state with my 2016 Nissan NV3500 van. I experienced very little sway, if at all, especially going through the Dakotas, Wyoming and Montana. After having serious sway problems with my previous hitch, I had looked into getting a Hensley type but I didn’t know if it was worth the money. I am so glad I didn’t spend that much because the Blue Ox has been worth every cent and costs much less. It was easy to install and is very easy to hook up and detach from my tow vehicle. I definitely recommend this hitch!

Incredibly fast shipping

Great place to shop. Speedy delivery. Second blue ox hitch. This one is for my son's camper. They are great.

by:

The Blue Ox preformed flawless wit zero road sway.

by:

This was a good hitch and easy to install and easy set up.

by:

Easy to follow instructions. Assembly and installation went well. Thanks for the fast delivery and great service.

by:

Only disappointment was the latch wrench. Previous review (... was impressed that Blue Ox has totally upgraded the chain latch wrench. No longer that flat piece of metal. The new wrench is a plated, heavy duty socket wrench. Much like a wheel lug nut wrench that is made especially for releasing the latches). Apparently the upgraded version of the wrench is hit -or- miss.

by:

Excellent, well built product. Easy to install and use. Makes a difference. Truck went from sagging to normal stance. Pulls the trailer with ease.

A year later, its still going strong. I am 64 and it is a very heavy hitch so at some point I will have to find a different solution or stop camping. In some states narcissists have made it illegal to leave a hitch on a truck as theyre too foolish to walk around it. Blame is rampant in those people. Genesis 3, time with Satan while lying about it.

Ive had the blue ox a year now, and have gone on 9 trips with my heritage glen 23bhhl. My silverado pulls it with ease and straight as an arrow thanks to this hitch. Once again a must have!!!

by:

I purchased this hitch system at just under $1,000.00 for my 2021 Nissan Titan Pro4X and 2011 Coleman travel trailer. I was experiencing some sway and tailgate sag while towing my trailer with a standard draw bar hitch. This hitch does absolutely nothing to help with sway control even on a 7000 lb 29 foot travel trailer. Less than a year after my purchase a lot of the paint has fallen off and the hitch and adjustable draw bar are covered in rust.
Though the system does help some with the tailgate sag, you have to raise your truck almost off the ground with the tongue Jack prior to setting and tensioning the chains in order to make an appreciable difference. Waste of 18 hours of overtime pay.

by:

After a full year of use, it works as promised. Highly recommend.

by:

Works great. Not excessively heavy and gives the drop needed for my f250 hookup.

by:

I have tens of thousands of miles towing 20' and 28' enclosed car haulers weighing anywhere from 6-8500 lbs.

The Blue Ox is quick and easy to hook up once you do it a few times and it works reasonably well at sway control. It's not as good at sway control as a Pro Pride hitch. But the Pro Pride is very expensive and very, very inconvenient to use.

The bottom line is that the Blue Ox sway control will get the job done in most instances. If you have a trailer that is inherently unstable, the Pro Pride is the better choice despite the cost and inconvenience.

by:

Top of the line

by:

Rose was great she helped me get the right hitch and she provided excellent customer service.

by:

Easy to set up and tear down. Works great on keeping the trailer towing true and smooth down the road.

by:

Works good and as described. We've used this Blue Ox SwayPro many times now and it does stabilize our 28' ATC well.

Every thing with Blue Ox is better than I expected. And every one from Etrailer is so helpful and dedicated. Kelly P. was a big help! Thank you Etrailer

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for a Trailer That Has a 900 lbs Tongue Weight
That's quite a bit of tongue weight for a 6,500 lbs trailer Juan. For a weight distribution system, I recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro item # BLU66FR. This system works with tongue weights between 700 lbs - 1,000 lbs so it'll be perfect for your Jayco travel trailer. The SwayPro item # BLU66FR has chain style frame hangers and built-in sway control. The sway control feature will help keep your trailer in line with your Sierra when you're traveling down the road and make a sudden lane change...

  • Will Upgraded Batteries Push Tongue Weight Too High on Keystone Passport
Hey Ryan! It has hard to say without knowing your existing loaded tongue weight, but the batteries may push your tongue weight beyond the limits of your Blue Ox SwayPro # BLU66FR. You also need to consider the weight of anything behind the rear axle in your truck since that also counts as tongue weight. Before you build a frame and add a box to the tongue I would definitely take a scale like # BTBRV27FR and see where you sit. You can play around with the batteries a bit (I understand...

Hi Steve! With fully loaded tongue weight of your 2022 Grand Design Imagine XLS 22MLE being 775 pounds, you could use the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control for 2" Hitch - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # BLU66FR. This has a tongue weight range of 700 pounds to 1,000 pounds, so you are within that range. However, you really want to be as close to the middle of the system's range as possible. Can I ask why you are specifically wanting a Blue Ox system, and, are you open...

This system has a 750 lbs - 1,000 lbs tongue weight range so it's going to be perfect for your Brinkley. • Which Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution for Lance 2255 Travel Trailer
Hey Gino, you'll want to take a couple measurements to determine what shank you'd need from a Blue Ox Swaypro to allow your trailer to be towed level. You'll want to measure from the top of your hitch opening on your vehicle down to the ground compared to the distance from the bottom lip of your coupler to the ground. The difference in these two dimensions is the amount of drop you need. The part # BLU66FR will give you up to 5 inches of drop and the # BXW1000 can do up to 2 inches of drop. Most...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 7,780 GVWR Horse Trailer
Hey Jennifer, great question! You don't have to have a weight distribution hitch (WDH) system rated for the full GVWR of your trailer, but you do need to make sure it's rated high enough to handle the loaded tongue weight of your trailer. If your tongue weight (when fully loaded up) doesn't exceed 600 lbs then the Reese Weight Distribution # RP66020 will work just fine. In my experience it's best to get a WDH rated for at least the GVWR because the weight range gives you the flexibility...

Hey Ronald! Blue Ox only offers the SwayPro with the 2-1/2" shank for the 15k and 20k models. The 15,000 lb system is overrated for your setup, so you will want to stick with the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control for 2" Hitch - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # BLU66FR. You can either add the 2-1/2" shank # BXW4028 separately, or use a reducer like # BTBRV64FR for the 2" shank. Personally, I would get the 2-1/2" so the setup is nice and solid. Then you can sell the 2" shank...

  • Which Blue Ox SwayPro WD System for 2017 Chevy Tahoe and Silverado 3500
Hey Earle, yes the difference between the Blue Ox Sway Pro part # BXW1000 and the part # BLU66FR is the shank like you noticed. The part # BLU66FR can only do a drop of 2 inches whereas the part # BLU66FR can do a drop up to 5 inches. Since both of your vehicles are going to have hitches that sit up higher I would recommend the # BLU66FR since it allows for more flexibility with picking the correct drop. I would definitely say this isn't overkill. What kind of trailer do you have?

  • Tools Needed To Remove Trailer Hitch Ball From Blue Ox Weight Distribution System
To replace a hitch ball on the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BLU66FR you will need a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216. This socket will fit inside the opening for the nut that fastens the hitch ball. The socket will require a 3/4" Ratchet # PT74VR. You will then be able to replace the hitch ball with a 2" # A-90 or 2-5/16" # C40030 Hitch Ball. Using White Grease Hitch Ball Lube # 58117 will help to reduce damage to the hitch ball as it will shed water from the ball.
