Question:
The Blue Ox Sway Pro Hitches part numbers BLU66FR and BXW1000 appear to be the same hitch with the exception of the shank height 10 inches for the BXW1000 and 12.5 inches for the BLU66FR, please correct me if I am wrong. Given they are the same hitch, what shank height would you recommend? I will be pulling a 8,000-pound trailer with a TW of about 900 pounds. The tow vehicles will be a 2017 Chevy Tahoe 4X4 with a towing package and a Chevy 350 HD with a towing package. I am leaning towards the 12.5 inch shank heigh, but do you think that is an overkill? Thanks for any recommendations. I am ready to order upon your reply. Thanks

Hey Earle, yes the difference between the Blue Ox Sway Pro part # BXW1000 and the part # BLU66FR is the shank like you noticed. The part # BLU66FR can only do a drop of 2 inches whereas the part # BLU66FR can do a drop up to 5 inches. Since both of your vehicles are going to have hitches that sit up higher I would recommend the # BLU66FR since it allows for more flexibility with picking the correct drop. I would definitely say this isn't overkill.
What kind of trailer do you have?
