Recommended Weight Distribution System for a Brinkley I 275 Travel Trailer

Updated 01/04/2026 | Published 12/17/2025

Question:

I will be towing a Brinkley I 275 travel trailer which the dry UVW is 7485Ibs and GVWR is 9600 Ibs, and the hitch weight ( pin weight) is about 705 Ibs. Also I was looking for some input from you on which blue ox weight distribution hitch would be best for this set up that I will be towing. Thank you.

Hey Brian, welcome back and thanks for the information! For a 9,600 lbs travel trailer, I recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control for 2" Hitch item # BLU66FR. This system has a 750 lbs - 1,000 lbs tongue weight range so it's going to be perfect for your Brinkley.

The Blue Ox item # BLU66FR has built in sway control that will keep your trailer in line with your Sierra when you're going down the road and hit a gust of wind, get passed by a semi driving way too fast, or make a sudden lane change. This system includes a 2-5/16" along with a 2" shank that will provide up to 11" of rise or 5" of drop from the top of your hitch receiver's opening.

Please note that the lift brackets mount 29" back from the center of the coupler where the ball mounts. You will need to make sure you have sufficient space along your trailer's frame.
