Question:
I have a 2018 Toyota Tundra and will be getting a 8.5 x 20 car trailer with a 9990 GVWR. The trailer is aluminum with a 2inch x 7inch tongue so I need a clamp on style chain hanger that does not require drilling. I think I need the BXW1000 system, but am wondering what the difference is between this and the BXW1006 and BLU66FR. From what I can tell it is the of the shank that differs. The BXW1000 has a 10inch rise/ and I think this is what I need. The top of the hitch receiver on the truck and the top of the trailer coupler both measure 19inch from the ground so it doesnt appear I need much rise or . Can you confirm that I am making the right choice? Thank you.

The difference between these two systems is the included shank. The Blue Ox # BLU66FR shank has 9 adjustment holes allowing for a 7.8 inch drop to a 14.72 inch rise, where as the Blue Ox # BXW1006 has a 11 hole shank allowing for a 7 inch drop to a 13 inch rise. So they are nearly identical.
To measure drop/rise, measure from the top/inside of the truck receiver to the bottom of the coupler. Since the measurement you supplied was to the top of the coupler we need to subtract 2" to get to the bottom of the coupler. In your case you have a 2" drop. I have included a link to an article showing how to measure drop/rise from vehicle to trailer.
With this in mind I would get the # BLU66FR with the smaller shank. (I would not get the # BXW1000 due to small drop adjustment.)
If your coupler receives a 2-5/16" diameter ball then I recommend the Draw-Tite # 19286 ball which has a1-1/4" diameter threaded shaft, and the shaft is 2-3/4" long. (If you need a different size ball just email me for a new recommendation.)
Before each trip apply a thin coat of Reese # 58117 ball lube. This will keep your ball looking nice, deter corrosion, help your ball slip into the coupler when hitching up and make for a quiet ride.
