Updated 08/20/2025 | Published 08/07/2025

Question:

I have a 2022 Grand Design Imagine XLS 22 MLE. I weighed the trailer tongue with the trailer loaded and it was 775lLbs. Trailer max weight is 6995. My truck is a 2019 F250 super duty crew cab 6,7 diesel. Looking at the Blue Ox Sway Pro WDH. Confused as to which one to use. Please advise options.

Hi Steve!

With fully loaded tongue weight of your 2022 Grand Design Imagine XLS 22MLE being 775 pounds, you could use the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control for 2" Hitch - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # BLU66FR. This has a tongue weight range of 700 pounds to 1,000 pounds, so you are within that range. However, you really want to be as close to the middle of the system's range as possible.

Can I ask why you are specifically wanting a Blue Ox system, and, are you open to other options? The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # EQ90-00-1000 has a 600 pound to 1,000 pound tongue weight range and would be more suitable. You may need a different shank as this doesn't have as much drop as the Blue Ox, but I think it would be a better option.

Thanks for the response. I had looked at both of these systems. I decided to go with the BLU66FR after reading reviews on both. I ordered it from Etrailer and should deliver by the end of the week. Will let you know how it does once I Install and try it out on our next trip. Regards Steve B.

@SteveB The Blue Ox is definitely a nice system and I think you will be happy with it! Just make sure you don't over "tighten" the chains when you set it up. The instructions for it are helpful and will show you how you want it. And definitely let me know how it goes! : )
