Features to know about

Keeps You Steady in Crosswinds: Built-In Sway Control with Positive Caster Head

When heavy winds or passing trucks start pushing your trailer around, the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control for 2-1/2" Hitch-15K GTW, 1.5K TW keeps it locked in line. The hitch head has a built-in positive caster angle that constantly centers the trailer behind you, while the trunnion bars stay under tension to hold everything steady. Four points of sway control—two in the head and two at the brackets—work together quietly and smoothly to keep your trailer tracking straight without the grinding or popping common to friction systems.

Levels Out the Load for a Controlled, Comfortable Ride: 1,500 lbs Tongue / 15,000 lbs Gross Rating

Uneven weight can make steering light and braking unpredictable. The SwayPro evenly distributes up to 1,500 lbs of tongue weight and supports 15,000 lbs of gross towing weight so the load sits level across the axles. That balance reduces rear sag, evens out tire wear, and gives you a stable, predictable feel on any road. With a 2-5/16" hitch ball and top-mount trunnion-bar setup, it’s built to handle serious loads without drama.

Quiet Towing, Even When You Back Up: Rotating Chain-Style Brackets

A lot of weight distribution systems need to be unhooked before reversing, but the SwayPro doesn’t. Its rotating lift brackets keep the chains tight and secure, limiting bar movement while still allowing full-range backing. Since only a few chain links hang loose, everything stays snug and silent—no creaks, snaps, or groans when you turn or park.

Close-up of Blue Ox SwayPro rotating lift bracket with taut chains showing minimal chain links exposed, illustrating the hitch’s quiet sway control design.

Fast, Hassle-Free Setup Right Out of the Box: Preset Hitch Head and Clamp-On Brackets

Getting ready to tow shouldn’t take half the day. The SwayPro’s hitch head comes pre-set with the right angle, so you can bolt it up without fiddling with washers or thumb screws. The trunnion bars slide in and lock with a simple pin and clip, and the clamp-on rotating brackets need no drilling. Using the included wrench, just rotate to tension the chains and you’re ready to roll.

Image showing Blue Ox SwayPro lift bracket setup with a chain inserted into the slot and rotated with a wrench until the lock pin engages.

Built for the Long Haul: Powder-Coated Steel with Easy Maintenance

Durable powder-coated steel construction resists corrosion, and grease zerks in the head make upkeep clean and simple. With a 13" shank length, up to 10" rise, and 5" drop, it’s easy to dial in the perfect trailer height. All hardware, lift brackets, spring bars, and hitch ball come in the box—everything you need for a quiet, confidence-inspiring tow.

Great people! Very helpful to explain what hitch would work best for me!

by:

by:

Great Customer service and very fast de livery!!!!!

by:

I installed it myself….. it does a great job, but I can never get it to the 9th chain link like everything I have read says I should be able too.

by:

Quick processing and fast shipping. I haven't installed the hitch system yet, but all the parts and components are there, so it should be easy enough.

by:

It’s rather difficult to set up each time, and somewhat dangerous, but it works very well when in use.

by:

excellent product and great service !

by:

Arrived a day ahead of original delivery date. The package was opened on both ends but the complete hitch was still there. Easy to put together except for having to torque the bolt to 250 lbs.

by:

Worked great for our 40' toy hauler (a heavy beast).
Watch out for the excess grease at the pivot points when you're stepping over the hitch.

by:

great product

by:

I received the package today and it was damaged. I don’t know why anyone would send a 105 pound package like this. The box was ripped open and the looks like the hitch has fallen out more than a couple of times. The box looks like it has been retapped multiple times. When you spend over $1000.00 for a hitch you would think it would be packed better than this. I’m very disappointed in trailer.

My camper has a c channel frame. Add did not say hitch would not work on c channel frame. hAD TO SPEND $XXX EXTRA

I have asked that we add this info to the product page for this system. Part # BXW4021 will be the brackets that will work for the C channel frame.

by:

Gave 3 vs 5 stars due to packaging. I'm amazed that parts weren't lost during shipping because the box looked like it survived the holocaust. The paint on my hitch was scratched and chipped from parts moving around and banging off each other. For almost a thousand dollars for the product, you can do better on packaging. The hitch itself looks nice and I expect it will do me well.

by:

The order was missing parts. There has been no follow up from the three employees that I have reached out to.
Very disappointed in the customer service responses to my concerns

Very fast delivery

by:

Exactly as described, fast delivery, very helpful customer service!

by:

etrailer support team did a great job helping me correct the error I made by ordering the wrong hitch. We made the change and the hitch was delivered on schedule. I will definitely use them again for my towing equipment needs.

by:

Easy initial setup and very easy to hook up after the initial setup. Does a great job of weight distribution.

by:

Product is exactly what I ordered, fast delivery, could have been packaged a little better.
Needed a hitch I could hook up easier and is quite going around corners.
Recommend etrailer for your towing needs.
Could have used a 3 inch shank, don’t know why Ford went from 2 1/2 to 3 on the Super Duty.

by:

Just got the weight distribution hitch today. I think all the parts are here. Some scuffs and scratches. Wasn't packed well at all. The hitch head was hanging out of the box. The box was not strong enough for the hitch and its parts. Other than that, the Blue Ox looks to be well built and a nice hitch.

by:

Hardware was lost in the shipment. It is almost one week later and am still waiting for a resolution. Have not had a chance to try the hitch yet...

I'm sorry that happened Charles. Very frustrating! I'll have somebody reach out with a status on that for you!

by:

I needed something that could easily be adjusted as the load in my toy hauler changed. I don’t bring my rzr with me on every trip and the load in my truck changes as well so having the flexibility to easily adjust is important to me. The installation was simple and straightforward. And most importantly Bay W with etrailer was so very helpful and patient in helping me find the perfect setup for my needs. Thank you Bay!

  • Weight Distribution Hitch for 2026 Chevy Silverado 3500 Towing Brinkley Z Air 297
Hey Michael! When you're choosing a weight distribution hitch the most important factor is the tongue weight of the trailer. It looks like the dry/unloaded tongue weight of a Brinkley Z Air 297 is 924 lbs. Once you add batteries and propane you will be up over 1,000 lbs before anything else is loaded in the trailer. Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight. Looking at the GVWR of 13,495 lbs that could potentially get as high as 2,000 lbs but I expect you to be more...

  • How do I Improve Ride Comfort When Towing a 39' Travel Trailer with a 2025 F-350?
Hello Robert, It sounds like you may be experiencing a bit of white-knuckle towing, which is never enjoyable. When a trailer doesn’t want to track straight, it can make every mile feel longer than it should. I do recommend a weight distribution system, but the key to choosing the correct one is knowing your total loaded tongue weight. A 39-foot pull-behind travel trailer will typically have a loaded weight somewhere in the 10,000 to 14,000 lb range. Your tongue weight should fall between...

  • Best Weight Disctribution Hitch For 2024 Ram 2500 Towing Brinkley Z Air 297
Hello Gerry, thanks for reaching out. The correct weight distribution (WD) hitch will depend on the loaded tongue weight of your travel trailer. Each WD hitch has a range of tongue weights it will work with, and ideally you want your trailers tongue weight to fall right in the middle of this range. According to the online specs I found, the 2025 Brinkley Z air 297 has a GVWR of 13,495 lbs and a hitch weight of 989 lbs. I do suggest you weight your trailer and confirm the loaded tongue...

  • Will the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Work With My 2024 Ford F-350 and Arctic Fox Edge 27 SX
Hey Russ, welcome back! I took a look at your 2025 Arctic Fox, and the Blue Ox SwayPro # BLU54TR is going to be a great match for your setup. Typically, tongue weight falls around 10–15% of the trailer’s GVWR. With your trailer listed at 13,500 lbs, that puts you right in the range this system is designed for. The SwayPro works with tongue weights between 1,100 - 1,500 lbs, so you’ll be right where you want to be for proper support and control. Another nice thing is it comes with a 2-5/16"...

This would put your tongue weight somewhere around 950 lbs - 1,425 lbs when loaded up. I recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # BLU54TR. The Blue Ox SwayPro item # BLU54TR works with tongue weights between 1000 lbs-1,500 lbs. It comes with a 2-1/2" shank that has a 5" drop. The built in sway control...

  • Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2021 Imagine 3250BH
Hey Brian, I would recommend the Reese Strait Line kit part # RP66074 which has the best sway control that prevents sway before it starts. Since you have a 2.5 inch hitch then you'd want the shank part # EQ90-02-4900 and you'd be set. The Blue Ox you mentioned isn't a bad option but if you want the best at preventing sway the Strait Line is the way to go for sure.

  • Is Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution BLU54TR Available Without A Shank
Hello Nate, thanks for reaching out. We do carry the 1,500 lb Blue Ox WD hitches like part # BLU54TR, but I am sorry to say we do not offer the WD hitch without the shank. The # BLU54TR comes with a shank for a 2-1/2" hitch. You can swap it out for your 3" Bulletproof shank. The shanks are interchangeable so that swap will not be a problem - you will just have an extra shank. The # BLU54TR should be used on trailers with a tongue weight between 1,000 and 1,500 lbs. Hi Adam, The Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control for 2-1/2" Hitch # BLU54TR has a tongue weight capacity range of 1,100 - 1,500lbs so it's a bit above what you're needing and would give you a bad ride quality. You would need the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW1000 and would need to swap out the shank with part # BXW4028 to fit your 2.5" trailer hitch since they don't offer a 2.5" version at this capacity. • What Rating Weight Distribution System Should Trailer with GVWR of 10k Have
Hey Austin, so the trick to picking out a weight distribution system is to go with one that has a tongue weight range that matches the tongue weight of the trailer. With batteries and propane added to the trailer tongue you will be sitting right around 1,000 lbs with nothing else in the trailer. • Weight Distribution System For A 2025 Ram 2500 Towing A 10K Airstream
Hi Earl! I have a couple options for you, but I think the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control for 2-1/2" Hitch - 15K GTW, 1.5K TW # BLU54TR you were looking at is a bit overrated for your set up. It has a minimum tongue weight capacity of 1,000 pounds and weight distribution systems are not one of those "Bigger is better" kind of things. Too little won't end up doing anything and too much will lift the front of the trailer and rear of the vehicle, which can cause more issues....
